This example has the following configuration requirements for the MAPs:
MAP1 is directly connected to the WX switch. WX1 needs port 2
configured as a directly connected MAP.
MAP2 is connected through a Layer 2 network to WX1. WX1 needs a
Distributed MAP configuration in order to boot and configure MAP2.
The Layer 2 network must provide DHCP services to MAP2.
MAP3 is connected through a Layer 3 network (Layer 2 networks
separated by IP routers) to WX1. WX1 needs a Distributed MAP
configuration in order to boot and configure MAP3. The Layer 2
network that MAP3 is attached to must provide DHCP services. The
network’s DNS server must have a “3COMWX” entry pointing to any
WX in the Mobility Domain.
The following sections list the configuration requirements for direct
attached MAPs and Distributed MAPs.
Local Connection Requirements When a MAP connects directly to a
WX switch’s 10/100 port, the WX port must be configured as a MAP
access port, which supports MAP traffic only. There is no intermediate
networking equipment between the WX and MAP and only one MAP is
