USING 3WXM WITH HP
OPENVIEW
If you installed the HP OpenView plug-in during installation of 3Com
Wireless LAN Switch Manager (3WXM), you can use HP OpenView in
conjunction with 3WXM to manage the 3Com Mobility System. This
chapter discusses preparing to use HP OpenView and 3WXM, and
starting 3WXM from the Network Node Manager.
Preparing to Use HP
OpenView and
3WXM
Before using HP OpenView and 3WXM, make sure you have the
following configured:
■ SNMP trap receivers (See “Configuring SNMP” on page 214.)
■ Syslog servers (See “Configuring Logging” on page 218.)
Starting 3WXM
from Network Node
Manager
You can start 3WXM directly from the main Network Node Manager
window.
To start 3WXM from Network Node Manager:
1 Start Network Node Manager. The Network Node Manager window
appears.
2 In the main Network Node Manager window, do one of the following:
■ Select Tools > 3Com > 3WXM.
■ Click the 3Com icon in the toolbar.
■ Right-click a 3Com WX switch, and select 3WXM.
The main 3WXM window appears.
