Procedure:
These instructions are for changing the recorded message or the volume on the 3Mt Remote Voice Alarm.
1. Remove the remote voice alarm speaker assembly from the wall.
2. Leave the remote voice alarm 12 VDC transformer plugged into an AC outlet.
3. Remove the cover from the electronic box by removing the two thumb screws.
4. Locate the speech processor board inside the electronic box. See figure below. All controls are on this board.
5. To record a message:
D The m essage should be at least 8 seconds long. If the message is shorter, you must hold the black REC
button down for at least 8 seconds.
D Do not record a m essage while patrons are going through the 3M Detection System.
D Make sure the message does not offend or falsely accuse anyone of theft. Make sure the message
complies with the library security policies. Use a m essage similar t o the following example:
“Your library materials have not been properly processed. Please return to t he check out counter.
a. Hold the black REC button down and speak into the black round microphone on the speech processor
board.
b. Release the black REC button.
c. Check the message by going through the detection system with a sensitized item to set off t he voice
alarm.
d. If necessary, adjust the volume by rotating the thumb wheel located on the speech processor board.
e. If the message must be changed, repeat steps a through c.
6. Put the cover back on the electronic box and secure with the two thumb screws.
7. Put the remote voice alarm speaker assembly back on the wall.
