Overview

The ezOutlet5 (EZ-72b) is a single-outlet remote power switch designed for network management, offering a range of features for controlling and monitoring connected devices.

Function Description:

The primary function of the EZ-72b is to provide remote power control and automatic reset capabilities for connected devices. It can connect to a local area network (LAN) via either an Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi, allowing for flexible deployment. The device supports automatic resets when internet connectivity or a LAN device is lost, ensuring continuous operation of critical network equipment. Users can manually control the power to the outlet (on/off or reset) through the ezDevice mobile application or the Cloud4UIS web interface, accessible from any computer with an internet connection. The EZ-72b also allows for scheduling power actions (on/off/reset) at specified days and times. It can manage multiple devices from a single Cloud4UIS account, including other ezOutlet models. Device ownership can be shared with or transferred to other Cloud4UIS users, facilitating collaborative management.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Power Rating: AC 100-240V, 50/60Hz, 10A.
  • Connectivity: Ethernet and Wi-Fi.
  • Management Interfaces: ezDevice mobile application (iOS/Android) and Cloud4UIS web portal.
  • Default HTTP Port: 80.
  • Default Time Server: pool.ntp.org.
  • Default Admin Credentials: Username admin, password is the last 6 characters of the MAC address.
  • Operating Environment: Designed for indoor use in dry locations.

Usage Features:

  • Flexible Connectivity: Can be connected to a LAN via Ethernet or Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi setup involves entering the SSID and password through the ezDevice app.
  • Automatic Reset (Auto Reset Mode): The device can be configured to ping a specific address or default website addresses. If pings fail, power to the outlet is reset. This mode is ideal for ensuring network uptime for modems or routers.
    • Ping Delay: Configurable time (0-1440 minutes) the EZ-72b waits after a reset before starting ping tests, allowing connected equipment to reboot. Default is 0.
    • Power On Delay: Configurable time (3-240 seconds) the EZ-72b waits after a reset is triggered before powering the outlet back on. Default is 3 seconds.
    • Number of Resets: Configurable number of automatic resets (1-10x or infinite). If connectivity is not restored after the specified attempts, the outlet stops resetting. Default is 1x.
    • Reset Only: Disables the "Turn OFF" function, recommended when powering modems or routers to prevent accidental power-offs.
    • Ping Interval: Configurable interval (5, 15, 30, or 60 seconds) after a successful ping to check for replies from the IP address(es) in use. If connection times out, the interval is fixed at 5 seconds.
    • Ping Address Mode: Can use Ping or HTTP mode for checking connectivity. Default is Ping.
  • Manual Control Mode: Allows users to manually turn the outlet ON/OFF or reset it via the mobile app or Cloud4UIS website.
  • Scheduling: Up to 6 schedules can be set to perform ON, OFF, or RESET actions at specific days and times (24-hour format).
  • Cloud Management: Full control and monitoring via Cloud4UIS.com and the ezDevice app from anywhere with an internet connection.
  • Local Web Administration: Configuration is also possible through a local web interface by connecting a computer to the same router as the EZ-72b and accessing its IP address. This method is particularly useful for saving and restoring configuration settings.
  • Device Naming: Users can assign a custom name to their EZ-72b for easier identification.
  • Network Configuration: Supports DHCP by default, but allows for manual configuration of IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and DNS servers. DHCP reservation on the router is recommended when using DHCP.
  • Time Synchronization: Automatically synchronizes time with a time server (default pool.ntp.org). Users can set the update interval, time zone, and enable/disable Daylight Saving Time, including specifying start and end dates/times.
  • Information Display: Provides details such as serial number, product model, and firmware version.
  • LED Indicators:
    • Internet (IN) LED: Solid ON for normal internet connection, OFF for no internet, BLINKING for unstable internet.
    • Cloud Link (CL) LED: Solid ON when connected to Cloud4UIS and added to an account, OFF when not connected to Cloud4UIS, BLINKING when connected to Cloud4UIS but not added to an account.
    • Auto Reset (AR) LED: Solid ON when Auto Reset is enabled, N/A when not applicable, BLINKING when manual control is enabled.
    • Output LED: Solid ON when outlet is ON, OFF when outlet is OFF, BLINKING when outlet is resetting.
    • Special LED States: Both IN and AR BLINKING indicates firmware upgrading. Both CL and AR BLINKING until the function button is released indicates a factory reset and removal from the cloud.

Maintenance Features:

  • Firmware Upgrading: Firmware updates are performed exclusively through the ezDevice mobile application when connected to the local network. The process is automatic, upgrading to the most current version, and takes approximately 1-2 minutes. During the upgrade, Internet and Auto Reset LEDs will blink, and the device will reboot.
  • Factory Reset: A factory reset can be initiated by pressing and holding the Power button for 10 seconds. This action turns off the Internet and Cloud Link LEDs, causes the Auto Reset LED to blink, and requires the device to be removed from the Cloud4UIS account afterward.
  • Remote Device Removal: Devices can be removed from a Cloud4UIS account via the web portal or the ezDevice app, allowing for transfer of ownership or complete removal.
  • Configuration Backup/Restore: Configuration settings can be saved and restored only through the Local Web Administration page.
  • System Restart: The device can be manually restarted through the Save/Restore section in the local web administration page.
