3.4.8. Replacement of SMB battery
Location of SMB battery
The SMB battery (SMB = serial measurement board) is located on the left hand side of the
frame as shown in the figure below.
Note that the robot is shown with the SMB cover already removed!

The procedure below details how to remove the SMB battery.
A SMB battery cover
B SMB battery pack
C Battery cable
Equipment, etc. Spare part no. Note
Battery pack 3HAC 16831-1 Battery includes protection circuits. Replace it
only with given spare part no. or an ABB
approved eqvivalent.
Standard toolkit - The contents are defined in section Standard
toolkit on page 436 in part 2 of the Product
manual.
Circuit Diagram See chapter Circuit diagram in the Product
manual, reference information.
Action Note
1. Move the robot to its calibration position. This is done in order to facilitate the
updating of the revolution counter.
