of the cable. See in the following table the index for each
cable type. Once a cable has been selected, press the
<Confirm Index> softkey to validate it.
Preset index values
Section A_B: Enable the index N calibration, the distance between the
cursors A and B being known. Selecting this known
distance will display the index of the fiber. The limits of the
distance are given by the index (1.30000 to 1.70000).
Scatter Coeff.: Choose the backscattered coefficient K from -99 dB to -50
dB in 0.1 dB steps. Modification of K modifies the
reflectance and ORL measurements. The default values are
given in "Reflectance" on page 1-2.
Acquisition
The MTS
e
provides three distinct methods of making an acquisition:
❏ A real-time mode, when the MTS
e
makes up to 10 acquisitions per second
and displays the resulting trace on the screen along with a connection status
indicator.
❏ A rapid automatic mode that allows you to make an acquisition with an
automatic configuration process using the minimum of key strokes.
