Overview

The ADDA-TOP Universal T-Top is an aftermarket accessory designed to upgrade center console boats by providing a fiberglass T-top tower. This installation guide outlines the process of assembling and mounting the T-top, including optional upgrades and wiring instructions.

Function Description:

The primary function of the ADDA-TOP Universal T-Top is to provide shade and a mounting platform for various marine accessories on a center console boat. It consists of a fiberglass top supported by a tower structure, which attaches to the boat's console and deck. The design aims to enhance the boat's functionality and aesthetics.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Components: The kit includes a fiberglass T-top, starboard and port leg sections for the tower, various standoff brackets (3x5 and 2x4), backing plates, and a comprehensive set of stainless steel mounting hardware.
  • Hardware: The mounting hardware consists of:
    • (8) 5/16" Stainless Bolts
    • (8) 3/8" Stainless Pan Head Screws
    • (8) 5/16" Stainless Nyloc Nuts
    • (4) Stainless Locking T-bolts
    • (4) M10 Stainless Nyloc Nuts
    • (8) Stainless #14 Tapping Screws
    • (24) Stainless Washers
    • (8) Round Top Washers
  • Weight: The total assembled weight of the top and tower is approximately 150 pounds.
  • Standoff Adjustability: The tower features a universal groove system that allows for adjustability of the standoffs, accommodating distances between the leg and the console ranging from 2 to 5 inches.
  • Wiring: The tower legs are hollow, providing a conduit for routing LED lights or other electronic wiring, keeping them out of sight and protected from the elements. A 1/2" opening is present at the top and bottom of the starboard leg for wire chase.
  • Predrilled Holes: The fiberglass top comes predrilled with 8 holes for tower installation. It also features three resin infusion ports on the topside, which remain out of view once installed.
  • Material: The T-top is made of fiberglass, and all included hardware is stainless steel, suitable for marine environments.

Usage Features:

  • Ease of Installation: The installation guide provides a step-by-step process, starting with attaching the top to the tower, then installing optional upgrades, positioning the assembled unit on the boat, attaching standoffs to the console, and finally securing the feet to the deck.
  • Optional Upgrades: The design supports the integration of optional upgrades such as an electronics box (e-box), glove box, LED lights, and rod racks. The e-box aligns with guide tabs on the underside of the top and requires drilling 1/4" holes for attachment using provided pan head bolts. The glove box and LED lights fit into precut holes in the e-box.
  • Adjustable Standoffs: The universal groove system allows installers to align standoffs for flush mounting to the console and the tower rail, ensuring a secure and stable connection. The standoffs are crucial for reducing vibration and are recommended to be mounted in specific areas for maximum support.
  • Wiring Management: The hollow tower legs facilitate clean and protected routing of electrical wires for lights and other electronics, contributing to a tidy and functional setup.
  • Support: ADDA-TOP offers lifetime support for original ownership, including assistance with installation questions via phone and email.

Maintenance Features:

  • Hardware Protection: It is highly recommended to use anti-seize lubricant on all stainless steel bolts during installation to prevent seizing under heat and pressure.
  • Sealing: 3M 5200 marine-grade adhesive or similar marine-grade silicone is recommended for all mounting areas, particularly for holding standoffs to the console and sealing the feet to the deck. This helps prevent water intrusion and provides a secure bond.
  • Cleaning: For powder-coated finishes, regular washing with a solution of clean water and mild detergent is advised. A soft cloth or sponge should be used, avoiding abrasive pads, steel wool, or hard-textured mediums that could damage the finish. The surface should be rinsed with clean water and dried with a microfiber cloth.
  • Periodic Checks: It is recommended to periodically check the locking T-nuts for tightness, using a 1/2" wrench and hand tightening as needed to ensure continued stability and safety.
  • Safety Notice: The T-top is explicitly stated NOT to be a platform for jumping, diving, sitting, or standing, emphasizing its structural limitations and intended use.
