Step Command Explanation
Step 1 Download the ASE product-specific MIBS. Visit Adtran’s website at the following link:
https://supportcommu-
nity.adtran.com/t5/Gen-
eral-MIBs/bd-p/sw-general-mibs and
select NetVanta 1570.
Step 2 Enable SNMP on the ASE Device.
(config)#snmp-server
Enable the SNMP engine on the NetVanta
1570.
Step 3 Enter Your SNMP Community Secret
(config)#snmp-server community
[public | private] ip-range [<ipv4
address> <subnet mask> |ipv6-range
<ipv6 address>] <community secret>
Enter your SNMP community secret and
optionally specify the IP address from which
the community will accept SNMP requests.
Step 4 Enable the SNMP Security Models (firmware v20.12-4 and earlier)
(config)#snmp-server
security-to-group model [v1|v2c]
name [public |private] group
[default_ro_group|default_rw_group
]
This step is only needed for firmware ver-
sions v20.12-4 and earlier. The security mod-
els are turned off by default in firmware
v20.12-4 and earlier. These models need to
be enabled for SNMP to work on the ASE
device.
Step 5 Enable the Read and Write Community
(config)#snmp-server community
[readcommunity|writecommunity]
enable.
The read and write communities are disabled
by default for network safety purposes and
must be enabled for SNMP to work on the
ASE device.
