Why is there no hot water from my Advance Metalpres J-SERIES Water Heater?

  Several factors can cause a lack of hot water. It could be due to a tank control failure, which requires checking the wiring and power supply or replacing the control. Another cause might be the aquastat not calling for heat, so check the wiring or replace the aquastat. An air lock in the domestic water loop may also be the reason; in this case, you should purge and bleed the piping. The circulator or zone valve might not be operating, requiring repair or replacement of the circulator, or checking the wiring and power supply of the zone valve (you can also open it manually to check) or replacement. Finally, the boiler might not be operating because the boiler control is too low, or there is a wiring issue. Check the disconnect switch, fuse or circuit breaker, and the power supply.

What to do if my Advance Metalpres Water Heater is discharging from the relief valve?

  If your relief valve is discharging, it could be due to several reasons. The inlet cold water pressure might be too high, requiring the installation of a pressure reducing valve. Alternatively, there might be excessive water pressure when heating; in this case, install a proper thermal expansion tank on the cold water inlet. Lastly, the relief valve itself may be leaking and needs replacement.

Another possibility is that the aquastat is running continuously, which means you should check the wiring or replace the aquastat. Improper system piping or wiring could also be the cause, so check the piping, flow control valve, and wiring. If there is a tempering (mixing) valve, read the valve instructions or consult with the manufacturer.

A defective aquastat or improper calibration can also be the cause, requiring replacement of the aquastat. The water heater or boiler might be undersized, necessitating the installation of an adequate water heater or rewiring for priority and checking the sizing. Inadequate boiler water flow can also be a factor; check the circulator sizing, ensure the valve is open, and purge and bleed the piping. Finally, scale build-up in the tank may be the issue, which can be resolved with chemical cleaning or repeated flushing.
