The AIRGOO AG-60 is a pottery wheel designed for ceramic work, featuring both hand and foot pedal control options. It is intended for users to shape clay into various forms.
Function Description:
The primary function of the AIRGOO AG-60 is to provide a rotating platform for pottery creation. Users can control the speed and direction of the wheel head to center, open, pull, and shape clay. The device offers two main control methods: a hand control knob located on the front LCD panel and an optional foot pedal. The hand control knob allows for precise speed adjustments, increasing speed when turned clockwise and decreasing it when turned counter-clockwise. The foot pedal provides a hands-free method of speed control, where pressing down increases speed and depressing the pedal slows it down. The wheel also includes a forward/reverse button to change the spin direction, accommodating both right-handed and left-handed users or specific shaping techniques. A two-piece water splash pan is included to contain clay and water splatter during operation, ensuring a cleaner workspace. The pottery wheel is designed to be used with molded plastic bats, which attach to the wheel head via three molded bat holders that insert into pre-drilled holes.
Important Technical Specifications:
- Maximum Wheel Speed: 300 rpm.
- Bat Size: One 11 1/2" plastic molded bat is included.
- Power Cord: 10-foot, 3-prong grounded AC cord.
- Maximum Clay Weight: The wheel head should not be overloaded with more than 20 lbs of clay. Exceeding this limit or forcing the wheel to stop can shorten the motor's life.
- Splash Pan: 2-piece design, which slides under the wheel spindle and overlaps to lock into place.
- Controls: LCD panel with Power Switch, RUN button, STOP button, FWD/REV button, and a speed adjustment knob. An optional foot pedal is also provided.
Usage Features:
- Dual Control Options: Users can choose between the hand control knob on the LCD panel or the supplied foot pedal for speed regulation. When the foot pedal is connected, the hand control knob is disabled.
- Directional Control: The FWD/REV button allows for easy switching of the wheel's spin direction, enhancing versatility for different throwing styles.
- Safety Interlocks: The wheel requires the RUN button to be pressed after the STOP button is engaged before it will operate again. This prevents accidental restarts.
- Easy Bat Attachment: The included plastic bat securely attaches to the wheel head using three molded holders that fit into pre-drilled holes, ensuring stability during use.
- Splash Pan Assembly: The two-part splash pan is designed for easy assembly and containment of debris, contributing to a tidier work area. It should not be removed while the unit is running.
- Power-Up Procedure: Before plugging in, the power switch should be in the off position, and the speed dial set to its lowest setting. If using the foot pedal, the pottery wheel must be unplugged before attaching it. When connecting the foot pedal, align the white dot on the machine portal with the white dot on the foot pedal cord to prevent damage.
- User's Guide: A comprehensive user's guide (AG-60 User's Guide) is included to provide detailed instructions on operation and maintenance.
Maintenance Features:
- Cleaning: The pottery wheel should always be turned off and unplugged before cleaning. A mild soap and water solution or an air hose can be used. It is crucial not to hose off or pressure wash the wheel, as this can damage the motor and/or bearings. Electronic parts must not get wet or submerged.
- Bat Cleaning: Bats can be cleaned with soap and water after each use. They should not be placed in a dishwasher. Additional bats are available for purchase.
- Pre-Use Inspection: Always inspect the wheel prior to use to ensure all components are attached correctly and that the power switch is off and the speed dial is at its lowest setting before plugging in.
- Cord Care: The 10-foot power cord should be plugged into a grounded (3-prong) AC outlet and kept away from the wheel head. Extension cords should not be used, and the plug should not be altered. Cords or plugs should never be immersed in water or other liquids to prevent fire or electric shock.
- Troubleshooting: In case of malfunction or damage, the user should turn off the power, unplug the cord, and contact an authorized Service Center. Do not attempt to repair the device by opening its case.
