This document describes the ALBA Cal.VD53 watch, an instruction booklet detailing its characteristics, display, crown/button functions, time and stopwatch settings, battery information, and general care guidelines.
The ALBA Cal.VD53 is a multi-function timepiece featuring both timekeeping and stopwatch capabilities. Its primary function is to display the current time, including hours, minutes, and seconds, along with a date display in numerals. The watch also incorporates a stopwatch function capable of measuring elapsed time up to 60 minutes in one-second increments.
The watch face is designed with several hands and sub-dials for its various functions. The main dial features an hour hand, a minute hand, and a second hand for standard timekeeping. For the stopwatch function, there is a dedicated stopwatch minute hand and a stopwatch second hand. Additionally, a 24-hour hand is present, and the date is displayed in a numeral window.
The watch is operated using a crown and two buttons, labeled A and B. The crown has three positions:
Buttons A and B are used for controlling the stopwatch functions. Button A typically serves as the Start/Stop/Restart button for the stopwatch, while Button B is used for resetting the stopwatch or for split time measurements.
Some models of the ALBA Cal.VD53 feature a screw-down crown, which enhances water resistance.
Before setting the time, it is crucial to ensure that the stopwatch hands are in the "0" position when the stopwatch is reset. If the stopwatch hands are not at "0", they need to be adjusted.
Before setting the time, confirm that the stopwatch measurement is stopped.
The stopwatch can measure up to 60 minutes in one-second increments. The measured time is indicated by the dedicated stopwatch hands, which operate independently of the main timekeeping hands. Before using the stopwatch, ensure the crown is in the normal position and the stopwatch hands are reset to "0". If the stopwatch hands do not return to "0" upon reset, refer to the "Stopwatch Hand Position Adjustment" procedure.
The watch uses a SEIKO SR920SW battery, with an approximate life of 2 years.
When the battery is nearing its end, the second hand will move at two-second intervals instead of the normal one-second intervals. This indicates that the battery should be replaced soon. The watch remains accurate even when the second hand is moving at two-second intervals.
After replacing the battery, or if any hands move improperly, the stopwatch hands must be reset to the "0" position.
The watch's water resistance varies by model, indicated by inscriptions on the case back.
The watch operates with stable accuracy within a temperature range of 5°C to 35°C (41°F to 95°F). Temperatures exceeding 60°C (140°F) can cause battery leakage or shorten battery life. Prolonged exposure to very low temperatures below -10°C (+14°F) may cause slight time loss or gain. These conditions will correct themselves when the watch returns to normal temperature.
Strong magnetism can adversely affect the watch. Keep it away from close contact with magnetic objects.
It is recommended to have the watch checked every 2 to 3 years by an AUTHORIZED ALBA DEALER or SERVICE CENTER. This ensures that the case, crown, buttons, gasket, and crystal seal remain intact, maintaining the watch's performance and water resistance.
To prevent rusting caused by dust, moisture, and perspiration, periodically wipe the case and bracelet with a soft, dry cloth.
Light activities will not harm the watch, but avoid dropping it or hitting it against hard surfaces, as this can cause damage.
Do not expose the watch to solvents, mercury, cosmetic spray, detergents, adhesives, or paints. These substances can cause discoloration, deterioration, or damage to the case, bracelet, and other components.
If your watch has a protective film and/or a sticker on the case back, be sure to peel them off before using your watch to prevent skin irritation or damage to the film itself.
