Software check (correct ISD)

Overview
If the 1643 AM/AMS Fail LED is continuously on but the NE cannot be accessed by
the ITM-CIT, then the procedure described below can be performed to check whether
it has a valid load.
Procedure
Proceed as follows to check the load:

Connect a PC via the COM1 port to the 1643 AM/AMS NE. Use for this connection
the ITM-CIT cable.

Start-up a Hyperterm window with the following parameters:
• Baud rate: 38400
• Data bits: 8
• Parity: None
• Stop bits: 1
• Flow Control: None
• Echo: On
• Terminal Emulation: vt100.

Select Connect.

Remove the power from the unit and reconnect it to allow it to reboot.

Watch the output, it should launch the ISD.
Note:
If the same message keeps coming back, then the conclusion is that the unit keeps on
rebooting and a reason may be that it cannot find a valid image (software load). To
recover from this situation, the unit needs to be sent to repair with the proper problem
description. There is no way to repair this in the field.
