Usage Features

The 4001 terminal is structured into three distinct zones: function keys, programmable keys, and diodes, each contributing to its user-friendly operation.

Function Keys:

These five keys provide quick access to frequently used functions:

  • Speaker icon: Activates and deactivates amplified reception.
  • Plus sign (+): Raises the level of amplified reception.
  • Minus sign (-): Reduces the level of amplified reception.
  • Square key: Initiates a broadcast onto the loudspeaker (LS) of a group of stations.
  • Hash key (#): Leaves a call-back request on a busy station.

Programmable Keys:

The station includes three programmable keys that can be customized by the user or an installer. These keys come pre-programmed with the following functions:

  • Forward: Activates or cancels any immediate call diversion.
  • Call back: Leaves a call-back request on a busy station.
  • Mail: Leaves a call-back request or replies to a request.

Diodes:

Three diodes are associated with the "Mail," "Forward," and programmable keys, providing visual feedback on their status:

  • Diode unlit: Function inactive.
  • Diode lit: Function active.
  • Diode flashing: Function requiring user intervention.

Main Functions:

The Alcatel station 4001 supports a comprehensive set of functions, accessible via dialing codes or programmable keys.

Calling Functions:

  • External call: Dial '0' followed by the external number.
  • Internal call: Dial the internal station or group number.
  • Direct call: Uses a programmed key for internal or external calls.
  • Individual repertory: Calls using a stored number (max. 10).
  • Common abbreviated numbers: Calls using common repertory codes.
  • General broadcast: Broadcasts to a group of stations.
  • Redial: Retransmits the last dialed number.
  • Save number: Temporarily saves an external number.
  • Save number and redial: Retransmits a saved number.
  • DTMF end/end signaling: Sends DTMF codes during external communication.

  • Paging call by prefix/suffix: Calls an internal correspondent with a pager.

Receiving Calls and Absence Management:

  • Hold reminder: Reminder ring for a correspondent on hold.
  • Waiting call consultation: Consults a waiting call.
  • Immediate call diversion: Diverts calls to an internal/external destination.
  • Call diversion on busy: Diverts calls to another station if busy.
  • Follow me diversion: Activates diversion from the destination station.
  • Diversion to paging: Diverts calls to a pager.
  • Cancel call diversion: Cancels any active call diversion.
  • Call back request answering: Answers a call back request.
  • Selective call forwarding: Forwards calls based on the caller.
  • Group calls forwarding: Forwards calls for a group.

Call Pickup and Conveniences:

  • Call pick-up: individual: Picks up an individual call.
  • Call pick-up: group: Picks up a group call.
  • Unassigned night answer: Answers a general call during night service.
  • Calling line identification restriction (CLIR): Cancels identity transmission.
  • Do not disturb (DND): Makes the station momentarily inaccessible.
  • Set lock/unlock: Forbids or authorizes station use.
  • Call parking: Parks a call to retrieve it from another station.
  • Call parking retrieval: Retrieves a parked call.
  • Hunting group disconnect/reconnect: Temporarily leaves or rejoins hunting groups.

Customization of Your Station

The Alcatel station 4001 allows users to customize its functionality, memorize individual repertories, and assign functions to programmable keys to meet daily requirements.

Accessing Programming Features:

After going off-hook, programming features can be accessed by pressing a programmed key ("Enter programming") or by dialing a specific code.

Programming Functions:

  1. Programmable keys:

    • Press '1', then choose the key to be programmed.
    • Press the speaker icon to cancel current programming.
    • Select a function by dialing its list number followed by the function number.
    • List 1 - Call: Automatic call back request/cancellation, intrusion on busy, protection against intrusion, paging by prefix/suffix, Calling Line Identification Restriction.
    • List 2 - Abbreviated number: Last number redial, save number and redial, direct internal or external call.
    • List 3 - Answer: Call pick-up (individual/group), unassigned night answer, general monitoring, intercom mode answer, answering a paging/general paging.
    • List 4 - Diversion: Individual diversions (immediate, on busy, do not disturb), group call diversions (immediate, disconnect), general diversion cancellation, master diversion keys + LED's (immediate, M Busy).
    • List 5 - Option: Access to voice mailing, key + LED for call back request, call back request (without LED), changing over to programming, put a number into memory, set lock/unlock.
    • List 6 - Communication: DTMF end to end signaling, conference, main PABX recall, business account code, intercom intrusion on free, call parking, loudspeaker on/off, increase/decrease loudspeaker volume, cancel enquiry call.
    • Functions marked with an asterisk (*) have optional or obligatory parameters. Press the speaker icon to cancel current parameters, enter new ones, and go on-hook to validate.
  2. Individual repertory:

    • Each 4001 set can store up to 10 numbers.
    • Press '2', then dial a number (0-9) for the repertory entry.
    • Dial the called party's number (include '0' for external calls).
    • Press 'xxx' to cancel entered digits.
    • Press 'Transfer' to insert a pause for external numbers.
    • Go on-hook to validate.
  3. Personal password:

    • Press '3', then '2'.
    • Enter the present password, then the new one to change it.
    • Press the speaker icon to cancel the entered password.
    • Go on-hook to validate.
  4. Call melody:

    • Choose from 8 melodies and 7 sound levels.
    • Press '4', then '1' repeatedly to listen to melodies. The last chosen melody is applied.
    • Press '2' repeatedly to change the sound level cyclically.
    • Go on-hook to validate.
  5. Handset audio amplification:

    • For users with hearing difficulties, the handset earpiece audio level can be amplified.
    • Press '5', then '2' or '1' to activate or deactivate amplification.
    • Go on-hook to validate.
  6. Set test:

    • Verifies LED and audio wire functionality.
    • Press '6': all LEDs light up.
    • Press '#': the system generates a tone.
  7. Type of calls to be forwarded:

    • Users can choose which types of calls are forwarded when call diversion is active.
    • Press '9', then dial the corresponding number:
      • '1': Select all calls (external and local).
      • '2': Select external calls.
      • '3': Select local calls.
    • Go on-hook to validate.
