Use the emery paper to clean up the damaged area.

Wipe away metal dust with a clean rag.
PAINTING
:
Open the pot of paint, stir if necessary, if the product has been in storage for
a long period of time.
Using the paintbrush, apply an even coat of paint over the damaged area.
Paint an area slightly larger than the damaged area, covering all the surface
touched by the emery cloth. Thus ensuring a good coverage of the exposed
area.
