Chapter 2 – Safety Information
Operation of computers and equipment connected to RPV311 and RA33x under
environmental conditions such as temperature and humidity that exceed the conditions
specified in their respective manuals can cause malfunctioning or even irreversible damage to
them or the nearby installation.
There might be situations in which the RPV311 and RA33x are operating within its
environmental operational range, but the computers, equipment connected to them or nearby
equipment are operating outside their operational range. That situation can cause
malfunctioning and/or irreversible damage to those devices. In that occasion the
communication to the Reason equipment might be compromised but its recording, operational
and safety capacities will not be affected.
Take extreme care when using external test blocks and test plugs such as
the MMLG, MMLB and P990, as hazardous voltages may be exposed.
Ensure that CT shorting links are in place before removing test plugs, to
avoid potentially lethal voltages.
4.7 UPGRADING/SERVICING
Do not insert or withdraw modules, PCBs or expansion boards from the
equipment while energized, as this may result in damage to the equipment.
Hazardous live voltages would also be exposed, endangering personnel.
Internal modules and assemblies can be heavy and may have sharp edges. Take care when
inserting or removing modules into or out of the IED.
