Overview

This document provides operating instructions for Amica microwave oven models AMGF17M1W, AMGF17M1B, AMGF20M1GW, AMGF20M1GB, and AMGF17M1GW. It covers important safety information, proper usage, and maintenance guidelines to ensure safe and efficient operation of the appliance.

Function Description

The Amica microwave oven is designed for heating or cooking food in a household environment. It operates by generating microwave energy, which heats food quickly and efficiently. Some models may also include a grill function for browning and crisping food. The appliance features a control panel with two selector knobs: one for setting the cooking power level and another for selecting the cooking time. The maximum cooking time is 35 minutes. Once the power and time are set, the oven starts automatically. An audible signal indicates when the cooking time has elapsed.

The oven is equipped with a turntable and a rotating trolley to ensure even heating of food. For models with a grill function, a grilling rack is provided and should be used when the appliance is set to "GRILL" mode. The inner cavity surface can become hot during operation, especially when using the microwave oven.

Usage Features

General Use:

  • Always read the operating instructions before using the appliance.
  • Use the appliance only for its intended purpose: heating or cooking food. It is not intended for industrial or laboratory use.
  • Ensure the oven door is properly closed and undamaged before operation.
  • Never operate the oven when empty, as this can cause damage to the internal chamber and magnetron.
  • Always set the time control knob to "0" (Zero) when the oven is not in use.
  • For cooking or heating, always place food on the turntable.
  • When heating liquids, stir them before placing the container in the oven, again in the middle of cooking time, and once more before removing from the oven chamber to avoid delayed boiling and burns.
  • Do not overcook dishes to prevent burning.
  • Do not store flammable objects inside the microwave oven.

Cookware:

  • Only use cookware suitable for microwave ovens.
  • Avoid using metal containers, metal-handled cardboard boxes, or cookware with metal frames, as these can cause electric arcs and damage.
  • Tightly closed containers may explode; always open them and pierce plastic bags before cooking.
  • Small, smooth pieces of aluminum foil can be used as shielding for thin pieces of meat or poultry, but ensure the foil is at least 2.5 cm from the oven walls to prevent arc discharge.
  • Observe manufacturer's instructions for browning plates; ensure the bottom of the plate is at least 5 mm above the turntable to prevent cracking due to high temperatures.
  • Always remove lids from glass jars before heating.
  • Use only heat-resistant glassware without metal frames.
  • For plastic containers, ensure they are labeled "for use in microwave ovens" and pierce or incise sealed plastic bags according to package directions.
  • Use paper plates, cups, and towels for short cooking/heating, but do not leave unattended.
  • Parchment paper and wax paper can be used as covers to prevent splashing and maintain moisture.
  • Thermometers suitable for microwave ovens (temperature probes for meat and sugar) can be used.

Safety Precautions:

  • Do not attempt to operate the oven with the door open or if the safety interlocks are disabled.
  • Keep children under 8 years old away from the appliance and its power cord, unless supervised by an adult.
  • Children aged 8 years and older, or persons with physical, mental, or sensory handicaps, can use the appliance under supervision and after receiving instructions on safe use and associated risks.
  • When using combined mode (if available), children can only use the microwave oven under adult supervision due to high temperatures.
  • Liquids and other foodstuffs should not be heated in sealed containers, as they could explode.
  • Do not heat baby bottles or baby food in the microwave, as uneven heating may occur and cause physical injury.
  • Do not use narrow-necked containers such as bottles for syrups.
  • Do not fry in deep fat in the microwave.
  • Do not do home canning in a microwave oven, as the entire contents may not reach boiling point.
  • If smoke or fire is observed, turn off the appliance or unplug it and keep the door closed until the flames are smothered.
  • The appliance must be grounded. Connect only to a wall socket with a proper protective conductor.
  • Do not cover or block the air vents on the oven.
  • Do not install the oven on a gas hob or other heat-producing appliance.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning:

  • Always disconnect the oven from the power source before cleaning.
  • After each use, clean the inside of the microwave oven with a damp cloth.
  • Clean accessories (turntable, rotating trolley) in soapy water.
  • Gently clean the door frame, seal, and adjacent elements with a damp cloth and mild soap or detergent.
  • When cleaning the glass door, avoid abrasive cleaners or sharp metal washers, which can scratch and damage the glass.
  • To clean the inner cavity and remove odors, place half a lemon in a bowl with 300 ml of water, and operate the microwave oven at 100% power for 10 minutes. After this, disconnect the oven and wipe the inside with a soft, dry cloth.
  • Regularly clean the oven and remove any food deposits and leftovers, as neglecting cleanliness can damage the surface and affect durability.

Troubleshooting:

  • If the oven does not start, check if the power cord is properly plugged in, if the fuse is blown or circuit breaker tripped, and if the power outlet is working.
  • If the oven does not heat, ensure the door is fully closed.
  • If the turntable makes noise, check if the rotating ring or the bottom of the oven is dirty and clean it if necessary.
  • Dimmed oven lighting during low microwave power cooking is normal.
  • Condensation on the door and hot air from vents during cooking are normal.
  • Microwave oven operation may interfere with TV and radio reception; this is normal.

Installation:

  • Remove all packaging materials and components before installation.
  • Check the oven for any damage (dents, door misalignment, breakage) and do not install if damaged.
  • Do not remove the light brown mica cover inside the recess, as it shields the microwave magnetron.
  • Ensure the oven is placed on a flat surface.
  • For built-in models, the appliance must be used with a mounted decorative frame and installed in a cabinet with a width of 60 cm and a height of 85 cm from the kitchen floor.
  • Do not remove the legs located at the bottom of the appliance (for non-built-in models).
  • Avoid blocking the inlet and outlet openings.
  • Place the oven as far away from radio and television as possible to minimize interference.
  • Ensure the voltage and frequency match the oven's rating plate before plugging into a standard household wall socket.

Warranty:

  • Warranty service is provided as stated on the warranty card. The manufacturer is not liable for damage caused by improper use of the product.
