Function
Con tr ols power to the electronic and mechan-
ica l assemblies. When power is on capstan
w ill rotate if tape is properly threaded or
th e safety swHch is mechanically closed_
The v-u meter L amps li ght wh en power is
on. and are unaffected by the safety switch,
rema in ing lighted till the power is turned
off.
For stereophonic 35 1-2 operation POWER
switc h es of both electronic assem bli es must
be in th e ON position.

eterm in es speed of the capstan drive motor
by hi gh or l ow speed w indin g. Used in con -
junct i on with EQUALIZATION switch S2.
Used to select appropriate equalizat i on cir-
cuitry for tape speed ch osen.

The switc h is closed when (LARGE position)
NAB 1 0½ inch reels arc used. In the SMALL
po sition the sw it ch is open. connect in g re-
sis tan ce R502 in ser i es wi th the torque
motors , thereby reducing holdback and take -
up tension.
Provid es a means for switching the meter
to read ind ications of re cord in put . eras e and
bias, and reproduc e output.
In the reproduce ( PLAYBACK) position, the
meter indicates the si gnal level at the second-
ary of the output transformer. In th e RE-
CORD position th e mete r indicates a "flat"
reading of the i nput si gna l. (See Figure of
System Block Di agram).
