Introduction
Tech. Specifications
The APart E-VOL60 is a 100 Volt volume control that can handle up to 60 watt of power.
It is very durable due to the step by step attenuation in 11 steps + zero position.
The volume control is equipped with a 24V priority relais. This way a microphone call will always come through at
maximum volume, no matter what position the volume control is in.
The E-VOL60 is build on a universal chassis that can easily be integrated with
Gira, Jung and Euro. Different cover plates are available for the UK market.

Please avoid
- Please avoid any power overload, measure your speakerlines before connecting.
- In reality, a lot of speakers have much higher load than the value listed in their specication.
Our APART speakers are especially engineered within their specication, so no risk for overload when using them !
- Please never apply clipped or overloaded levels from your amplier to this volume control.
It may cause overheating and damage ! Our APART ampliers are automatically limited to avoid such
distorted signals !

Overview

APart E-VOL60 Volume Control

The APart E-VOL60 is a robust 100 Volt volume control designed to manage audio output in commercial and public address systems. It can handle up to 60 watts of power and features a durable, step-by-step attenuation system with 11 distinct steps plus a zero-position for complete silence.

A key feature of the E-VOL60 is its integrated 24V priority relay. This relay ensures that in the event of a microphone call, the audio signal will always come through at maximum volume, regardless of the volume control's current setting. This is crucial for emergency announcements or important communications, preventing information loss even if background music is muted.

The device is built on a universal chassis, making it easily integrable with various standard wall plate systems such as Gira, Jung, and Euro. Different cover plates are also available for the UK market, ensuring broad compatibility and aesthetic integration.

Usage Features:

Power and Connection: The E-VOL60 is designed for 100 Volt loudspeaker systems. It is crucial to avoid power overload; users should measure their speaker lines before connecting. While many speakers may have higher listed loads, APART speakers are specifically engineered to their specifications, minimizing the risk of overload when used with APART products.

Amplifier Compatibility for Priority System: To utilize the 24V priority system, the E-VOL60 requires an amplifier with a 24V priority output contact (24Volts / 1A). Compatible APART amplifiers include:

  • MA200
  • MA200R
  • MA200CDR
  • MA125
  • PA240P (Note: PA240P supports only up to 30 volume controllers, while others support up to 50pcs). This setup allows for a microphone (e.g., MICPAT-D) to override the volume control, ensuring announcements are always heard.

Wiring Configurations:

  • 2-Wire Connection: This is a basic setup for volume control without priority. The total loudspeaker power should not exceed 60 watts. Connections include "IN" from the amplifier, "OUT" to the loudspeakers, and a common ground.
  • 4-Wire Connection with Priority: This configuration enables the 24V priority function. In addition to the "IN" and "OUT" connections for the 100V line, there are dedicated "+24V" and "com" terminals for the priority relay. When the priority system is activated (e.g., by a microphone call), the volume controller is automatically set to maximum volume, ensuring the message is delivered clearly.

Important Usage Notes:

  • Never apply clipped or overloaded levels from your amplifier to the volume control, as this can cause overheating and damage. APART amplifiers are designed to automatically limit distorted signals to prevent such issues.
  • The priority system is particularly useful in environments where background music might be present, but critical announcements must always take precedence (e.g., meeting rooms, offices). If the volume controller is set to "0" (no background music), a microphone call would typically be lost. The priority system prevents this by temporarily overriding the volume setting.

Maintenance Features and Mounting Guidelines:

Mounting:

  • Ensure the inside of the wallbox remains clear of all wires to prevent short circuits between the wires and the printed circuit board of the volume controller.
  • The screw connectors on the printed circuit board are designed for flexible wires. Therefore, avoid using solid copper conductor wires.
  • Do not connect more than one wire into each onboard screw connector of the volume controller.
  • Avoid using excessive force when mounting the volume controller in the wallbox to prevent damage.

The APart E-VOL60 is a reliable and versatile volume control solution, offering both standard audio attenuation and critical priority override capabilities for professional audio installations.
