Overview

The AB Aqua Medic TITAN series of cooling units (models 150, 500, 1500, and 2000) are designed for cooling closed water cycles, suitable for both fresh and sea water aquaria, as well as various chemicals. These units are equipped with heat exchangers made from sea water proof Titanium steel, ensuring corrosion resistance and freedom from contaminations.

Function Description:

The TITAN coolers operate on a one-phase cooling system utilizing the FCKW-free cooling medium R 134a. They employ capillary injection as their control system. The primary function is to extract heat from the water, thereby lowering its temperature. A built-in temperature computer with a digital display shows the actual water temperature. The thermo sensor is strategically placed in the water inlet, ensuring that the displayed temperature accurately reflects the temperature in the tank. The units are designed to prevent freezing of the heat exchanger in case of water supply failure, as the temperature sensor is located inside the unit.

Usage Features:

  • Digital Temperature Controller: All TITAN series units come with a digital temperature controller. The display shows the actual water temperature.
  • Set Point Check: A short press of the "SET" button displays the set point, indicated by a flashing LED (top, left). The unit reverts to the actual temperature after a few seconds.
  • Set Point Adjustment: To adjust the set point, press and hold the "SET" button for approximately 5 seconds. The displayed set value will flash and can be changed in 1°C steps using the "+" and "-" buttons. Pressing "SET" again saves the new set point.
  • Compressor Status Indicator: A small LED between the second and third digits of the display indicates whether the compressor is on or off.
  • Ventilation Requirement: The cooling unit must be placed in a well-ventilated area to ensure efficient heat dissipation. The exhaust air should be able to escape from the back of the unit. The environmental temperature should not exceed 35°C.
  • Water Cycle Connection: The unit connects to a closed water cycle via connecting pieces. It is recommended to place the unit below the water surface.
  • Continuous Water Flow: It is crucial for water to flow continuously through the cooler.
  • Initial Setup: Before starting, the cooler should stand upright for at least 1 hour. After connecting to a 230 V power source and switching it on, the actual water temperature will be displayed.
  • Pressure Warning: The cooling unit must not be used under pressure. The maximum height below water level is 150 cm.
  • Robust Construction: The units feature a solid cover made of plastic and metal.

Maintenance Features:

  • Professional Maintenance: Maintenance and/or repairs should be performed exclusively by a service engineer or the manufacturer.
  • Condenser Cleaning: The air-cooled condenser should be cleaned regularly.
  • Heat Exchanger Flushing: It is recommended to thoroughly flush the heat exchanger once a year to remove any muddy parts, ensuring optimal performance and longevity of the unit.
  • External Fuse: For Titan 150, 500, and 1500 models, the main switch and fuse can be changed from outside. This feature is not applicable to the Titan 2000.

The AB Aqua Medic TITAN cooling units are designed for reliability and ease of use, providing precise temperature control for various aquatic and chemical applications.
