Why won't my Ariens Snow Blower engine crank/start?

  There are several reasons why your Ariens Snow Blower engine might not crank or start. It could be due to an empty fuel tank, so you should fill it. The fuel shut-off valve might be closed, so open it. A buildup of dirt and residue around the governor/carburetor can also cause this, so clean that area. Ensure the key switch is in the run position. Finally, the electric starter might not be functioning, so check it for bad connections.

  Your Ariens Snow Blower engine might stop for several reasons. You might be out of fuel, so refill the fuel tank. The fuel shut-off valve could be closed, so open it. There might be a mechanical jam in the blower rake or impeller; in this case, turn off the engine, remove the key, wait for all moving parts to stop, then check for and remove any obstructions before restarting. A polluted fuel supply can also cause this, so replace it with clean fuel. A faulty spark plug could be the culprit, so replace or clean it. Finally, a plugged fuel cap vent can cause the engine to stop; replace the fuel cap to resolve this.

  If your Ariens Snow Blower unit throws snow poorly or not at all, several factors could be at play. Broken shear bolts are a common cause, so replace them. The attachment clutch/brake might not be adjusted properly, so adjust it. If the impeller is frozen in place, move the unit to a warm place to thaw it. Ice or debris obstructing the auger can also prevent proper snow throwing, so with the engine off and auger disengaged, check for and remove any obstructions. Finally, slipping, worn, or damaged attachment drive belts can cause this issue, so adjust or replace the belts.
