Overview

The Aroma AAF-200 Air Fryer is a versatile kitchen appliance designed for household use, offering a healthier alternative to traditional deep frying. This air fryer utilizes rapid air circulation technology to cook food, producing crispy results with significantly less oil. Its primary function is to air fry a variety of ingredients, from homemade fries and hamburger patties to chicken breast, chicken wings, and frozen chicken nuggets, making it a convenient tool for everyday meal preparation.

Function Description:

The air fryer operates by circulating hot air around the food, which ensures even cooking and a crispy exterior. Users simply place their ingredients in the frying pan, set the desired cooking time using the control dial, and the appliance takes care of the rest. The indicator light illuminates when cooking begins and turns off when the timer bell dings, signaling that the cooking cycle is complete. This method of cooking eliminates the need for large amounts of oil, contributing to healthier meals. The appliance is equipped with a 3-conductor cord and a 3-prong grounding-type plug to ensure electrical safety during operation.

Usage Features:

Before first use, it is crucial to read all instructions and important safeguards. The initial setup involves removing all packaging materials, cleaning the frying pan and baking tray thoroughly with soapy water, and wiping the body and interior with a wet cloth. It's important to ensure the rubber scratch guards on the baking tray fully cover the metal feet to prevent scratching the non-stick surface of the frying pan. A "breaking-in" period of 30 minutes, running the unit without food, is recommended to eliminate any initial smells. Adequate ventilation and at least an inch of clearance on all sides of the air fryer should be maintained during this process.

To use the air fryer, the user pulls out the pan from the main body, ensuring the baking tray is inserted and pushed to the bottom. Ingredients are then added to the frying pan, distributed evenly for optimal cooking, and the pan is slid back into the air fryer. The power cord is plugged into a 120V AC wall outlet. The time control dial is used to set the required cooking time, which can range from 8 to 27 minutes depending on the food type. The indicator light will illuminate, and the timer bell will ding when cooking is complete, at which point the indicator light turns off.

When opening the pan after cooking, it is essential to keep hands and face away from the hot steam. The pan itself becomes very hot during and after use, so it should only be handled by its handle. The appliance is not intended to be used as a deep fryer, and the pan should never be filled with oil or any other liquid. It is also crucial to never use the pan without the baking tray inserted. If the appliance is heating ingredients without the baking tray, a special oven glove should be used to open the drawer, as the side wall and edge of the drawer can become very hot.

For certain ingredients, shaking them halfway through the preparation time is recommended for even cooking. If the timer is set to half the preparation time, the user will hear a ding, prompting them to shake the ingredients before resetting the timer for the remaining cooking duration. Smaller ingredients generally require less cooking time than larger ones. Brushing fresh potatoes with a small amount of oil can enhance crispiness. The air fryer can also be used to reheat ingredients, typically by setting the time to 10 minutes. It's important not to turn the frying pan upside down after cooking, as any excess oil collected below the baking tray could leak onto the ingredients. The air fryer is instantly ready for another batch once one is complete.

Maintenance Features:

Cleaning the Aroma AAF-200 Air Fryer after every use is recommended to maintain its performance and longevity. Before cleaning, the unit must be unplugged and allowed to cool completely, which can be expedited by removing the pan. The exterior of the unit should be wiped with a damp cloth only, and the main body should never be immersed in liquid.

The baking tray should be removed from the frying pan for easier cleaning. Both the frying pan and baking tray can be cleaned with hot water and mild dish detergent. A soft brush can be used to remove any stubborn food residue from the baking tray. The rubber scratch guards can also be removed for better cleaning. The inside of the appliance should be cleaned with hot water and a non-abrasive sponge. The heating element can be cleaned with a cleaning brush to remove any food residue. All parts must be thoroughly cleaned and dried before re-assembling the unit.

It is important to avoid using abrasive cleaners in the frying pan, as they can damage the non-stick coating. Harsh abrasive cleaners or scouring pads should not be used on any part of the appliance. The removable parts, including the frying pan and baking tray, are dishwasher-safe, offering a convenient cleaning option. However, care must always be taken to prevent electrical components from coming into contact with water. Any servicing beyond routine cleaning should be performed by Aroma® Housewares customer service.
