4. Front panel audio connector (10-1 pin AAFP)
This connector is for a chassis-mounted front panel audio I/O module that supports either
HD Audio or legacy AC’97 audio standard.
• We recommend that you connect a high-denition front panel audio module to this
connector to get the motherboard’s high-denition audio capability.
• If you want to connect a high-denition front panel audio module to this connector, set
the Front Panel Support Type item in the BIOS to [HD Audio]. If you want to connect
an AC'97 front panel audio module to this connector, set the item to [AC97]. See 2.4.4
Chipset for details.
5. CPU fan connector (4-pin CPU_FAN)
The CPU fan connector supports a cooling fan of 350mA ~ 2000mA (24W max.).
Connect the CPU fan cable to the CPU fan connector on the motherboard, ensuring
that the black wire of each cable matches the ground pin of the connector.
DO NOT forget to connect the CPU fan cable to the CPU fan connector. Insufcient air ow
inside the system may damage the motherboard components. It is not a jumper! DO NOT
place a jumper cap on the CPU fan connector!
Only the CPU fan supports the ASUS Q-Fan feature.
