Overview
ThismotherboardcomeswithtwoDoubleDataRate4(DDR4)DualInlineMemoryModule
(DIMM)sockets.ThegureillustratesthelocationoftheDDR4DIMMsockets:
• YoumayinstallvaryingmemorysizesinChannelAandChannelB.Thesystem
mapsthetotalsizeofthelower-sizedchannelforthedual-channelconguration.Any
excessmemoryfromthehigher-sizedchannelisthenmappedforsingle-channel
operation.
• AlwaysinstallDIMMswiththesameCASlatency.Foroptimalcompatibility,we
recommendthatyouinstallmemorymodulesofthesameversionordatecode(D/C)
fromthesamevendor.Checkwiththeretailertogetthecorrectmemorymodules.
• DDR42666MHzandhighermemorymoduleswillrunatmax.2666MHzonIntel®8th
Generation6-coreorhigherprocessors;DDR42400MHzandhighermemorymodules
willrunatmax.2400MHzonIntel®8thGeneration4-coreprocessors.
• Memorymoduleswithmemoryfrequencyhigherthan2133MHzandits
correspondingtimingortheloadedX.M.P.ProleisnottheJEDECmemorystandard.
ThestabilityandcompatibilityofthesememorymodulesdependontheCPU’s
capabilitiesandotherinstalleddevices.
• ThedefaultmemoryoperationfrequencyisdependentonitsSerialPresenceDetect
(SPD),whichisthestandardwayofaccessinginformationfromamemorymodule.
Underthedefaultstate,somememorymodulesforoverclockingmayoperateata
lowerfrequencythanthevendor-markedvalue.
• Forsystemstability,useamoreefcientmemorycoolingsystemtosupportafull
memoryload(2DIMMs).
