Fundamental Troubleshooting Manual for VFD
1. Purpose
This test guide is applicable to service personnel in the field troubleshooting/ judgment of
machine faults, accurately locate the problem, avoid direct replacement of the machine.
This avoids the problem of being unable to reproduce the problem caused by changing
the machine directly and prolonging the processing progress of the problem.
This guide is only the basic detection of the VFD and some of the more frequent failure
detection and judgment methods.
2. Tools Needed
Multimeter, VFD, asynchronous motor and other supporting equipment.
3. Simple Troubleshooting
Note 1: Wiring Error
1. Is the RST power cord correct?
2. Is the UVW motor wire correct?
3. Is the external control wire wired correctly?
Is there any damage or abnormality in the housing?
1. Serious damage to the
shell
2. Obvious oil, dust on the
terminals
Are there any problems with the cable wiring?
1. Input voltage 380/220
2. Wiring error (Note 1)
3. No fastening screws for
terminals
4. Cable damage
5. Loose connector
Abnormal parameter settings?
1. The motor model is not matched
correctly with the VFD (Note 2)
2. Function code required by the
customer
Is the motor abnormal?
(Note 3)
1. Serious damage to the motor casing
2. Bad insulation of the motor
3. Stuck shaft or strange noise
Abnormal customer system? (Note 3)
1. Customer machinery jammed
2. Abnormal mechanical test
adjustment
3. Abnormal peripheral control
line
