The speed warning system helps to stay below a
specified maximum speed. A warning threshold
can be set in the MMI for this purpose.
Once the speed slightly exceeds the stored
threshold, the speed warning system will provide
an alert using an indicator in the instrument clus-
ter and a warning tone. Once the speed drops be-
low the stored maximum speed, the indicator
will turn off.
Setting a threshold is recommended if you would
like to be reminded when you reach a certain
maximum speed. Situations where you may want
to do so include driving in a country with a gener-
al speed limit or if there is a specified maximum
speed for winter tires.

Regardless of the speed warning system, you
should always monitor your speed using the
speedometer and make sure you are following
the legal speed limit.
Setting the warning threshold

You can adjust the warning threshold to your
preferences in the Driver assistance menu
© page 117. The settings depend on the vehicle
equipment.
Possible settings:
Speed warning - adjust the speed for the warn-
ing threshold.

Camera-based traffic

Applies to: vehicles with camera-based traffic sign recogni-
tion

The traffic sign recognition shows the traffic
signs detected by the front camera in the instru-
ment cluster display. Data from the navigation
system is also included in the display. By evaluat-
ing the data, applicable legal speed limits will al-
so be displayed for roads that have no speed limit
signs. Up to three traffic signs can be displayed at
the same time. The speed limit that is currently
applicable is displayed in the status bar.
Within the limits of the system, restrictions @
may be displayed under the following conditions:
@ | Aspeed limit applicable in wet conditions
is detected and the windshield wipers are
running.
© /|Aspeed limit applicable in fog is detected
and the fog lights or all-weather lights
are switched on.
© |The detected time for a speed limit
matches the time displayed in the instru-
ment cluster.
Within the limits of the system and depending
on the market, additional symbols @ that indi-
cate speed limits in school zones, highways, con-
struction zones, or at night may be displayed. >
