Instruments and warning / indicator lights
The brake system will still respond even without the assistan ce of
the ABS system. See your authorized Audi dealer as soon as
possible to restore full braking performan ce.

The ABS warning light and the brake warning light come on
together . The ABS will not work and you will notice a change in
braking response and performance .
Malfunction in the brake system
If the brake warning light=> page 7 7and the ABS warning illuminate
together there may be a malfunction in the ABS, and there may also
be a ma lf uncti o n in the brake syste m itself =>& .
In the event of a
malfunction in the brake system the warning/indi -
cator ligh t
BRAKE (USA mo dels)/((])) (Canada mod els) in t he inst rum ent
cluster f lashes . By pressing the [SET] button, you can bring up a
driv er message which explains the ma lfunction in mor e detai l.

Malfunction in the electronic differential lock (EDL )
The EDL works together with the ABS. The ABS warning light will
come on if t here is a ma lfun cti on in the EDL system =>
page 213. See
your authorized Audi dea ler as soon as possible.
& WARNING
• If the
~
(USA models )/" " (Canada models ) warning light
does not go out , or
if it comes on while driving, the ABS system is
not working properly . The vehi cle can then be stopped only with
the standard brakes (without ABS). You will not have the protec -
tion ABS provides. Conta ct your authorized Audi dealer as soon as
possible .
• USA models : If the BRAKE warning light and the ,.,_,, warning
light come on together , the rear wheels could lock up first under
hard braking . Rear wheel lock-up can cause loss of vehicle control
and an accident. Have your vehicle repaired immediately by your

authorized Audi dealer or a qualified workshop . Drive slow ly and
avoid sudden, hard brake applications.
• Canada models :
If the brake warning light CCD> and the ABS
warning light come on together , the rear wheels could lock up
first under hard braking . Rear wheel lock-up can cause loss of
vehicle control and an accident. Have your vehicle repaired imme-
diately by your authorized Audi dealer or a qualified workshop .
Drive slowly and avoid sudden , hard brake applications. •
Electromechanical parking brake

The wa rning /in di cator lig ht moni tor s the elect romechan -
ical parking br ake.
With the parking brake applied and the ignition turned on, the
wa rning/indicator light illuminates . After the ignition has been
turned off, the warning/ indicator light cont inues to ill uminate for
about 30 seconds. If the parking brake is app lied with the ignition
t urne d off , t he w arn ing/ indi cato r lig ht illum inat es for abou t 30
seconds.
The wa rni ng/in dicat or light wi ll go out whe n the parking bra ke is
released .
If the warning/indicator light flashes continuously
after applying the
par king brake, bra king force is not suf ficient to p revent t he vehicle
from rol ling unintentiona lly. Please note the following :
• If th e slope of t he gro und is too ste ep t o park the vehicle , t he
additiona l drive message appears
Caution : Vehicle parked too
steep.
• In the event of a parking brake ma lfunction, the yel low · symbol
app ears in the instr um ent c luster display and the driver messag e
Parking brake malfun ction ! is displayed . Have the malfunction .,,_
