Always be aware of change s in out side light conditi ons while you
are driving. Respond in time to fading daylight by t urning the light
switch to posit ion
gO (or "AUTO") to turn on your headli ght s.
Instrument lighting
The basic brightness of the illumination for the ins tru -
ments, the center console and the display can be
adjusted.
- Press t he knob to release it .

- Rotating the knob to t he right"+" will increase the basic
brightness when it is da rk.
Rotating the knob to the left" -" will decrease the basic
brightness whe n it is dark .
- Pressing the knob will prevent unintentiona l changes.

The illumination for t he instrument cluster lights up whenever you
switch on the ignition with the vehicle head lights off. As the
dayligh t fades , the instrument cluster illumination likewise dims
automatically and will go out complete ly when the outside light is
very low . This feature is meant to remind you to switch on the head -
lights when outside light conditions become poor.
Emergency flashers

The emergency flashers makes other motoris ts aware
that you or your vehicle are in an emergency situation.

- Press the sw itch ~ ~ fi g. 55 to t urn the emergency
flas hers on or off .
When the emergency flashers are on , all four t urn signals blink at
the same time . The turn signal indicator lights ¢¢ in the instru-
ment cluster, as well as the light in the emergency flasher switch ~
blink likewise. The emergency flashers also work when the igni tion
is turned off.
The emergency fl ashers wi ll turn on automatica lly if you are in an
accident where th e airbag has deployed .

You should turn on the emerg ency flashers when :
you are the last vehicle standing in a traffic jam so that any other
vehic les coming can see you , or when .,_
