– Always clean steering gear -6- in Servotronic Solenoid Valve
- N119- -3- area.
– Make sure dirt cannot get into the steering gear -6-.
– Disconnect the connector -8-.
– Make sure dirt cannot get into the connector -8-.
– Remove the bolts -1- and -2-.
– Remove the Servotronic Solenoid Valve - N119- -3- from the
steering gear -6-.
– Remove the screen -7- from the steering gear -6- and clean
steering gear, if necessary.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
– Install a new screen -7-.
– Lightly coat gasket -4- and -5- with Steering Gear Grease and
insert.
– Place Servotronic Solenoid Valve - N119- -3- in steering gear
-6- as far as stop. Do not tilt Servotronic Solenoid Valve -
N119- when doing so.
Caution
♦ Always follow screw tightening sequence.
– Tighten screws -1- and -2- as follows:
1 - Tighten screw -1- to 0.5 Nm.
2 - Tighten screw -2- to 1.5 Nm.
3 - Tighten screw -1- to 3.0 Nm.
4 - Tighten screw -2- to 3.0 Nm.
– On vehicles with air suspension, position vehicle on wheels,
refer to
⇒ “4 Positioning Vehicle on Hoist and Wheels”, page 10 .
3.7 Tie Rod End, Removing and Installing
Special tools and workshop equipment required
♦ Torque Wrench 1332 40-200Nm - VAG1332-
♦ Puller - Ball Joint - T10187-
Removing
Two different tie rod ball joint versions were installed; one with the
designation “R”or “L” and “arrow”, which shows the driving direc‐
tion. Allocation, refer to the Parts Catalog.
They can be removed and installed with the steering gear in the
vehicle.
– With vehicles with air suspension, place vehicle on hoist, refer
to ⇒ “4 Positioning Vehicle on Hoist and Wheels”, page 10 .
– Remove front wheel.
