– Start engine and when at idle speed, close shut-off valve
-item 1- and read pressure (do not measure longer than 10
seconds).
Delivery pressure specified value: 110 to 128 bar
If specified value is not obtained, replace power steering pump,
refer to
⇒ “8.4 Power Steering Pump, Removing and Installing”,
page 371 .
– Switch off engine.
– Remove Power Steering Test Unit - VAG1402- .
– Install banjo bolt with new gaskets, refer to -Item 14-
⇒ Item 14 (page 373) . Note location of pressure line when
doing so, refer to
⇒ Fig. ““Pressure Line Location on Power Steering Pump”“ ,
page 373 .
– Bleed steering system, refer to
⇒ “4.2 Steering System, Bleeding after Replacing”,
page 311 .
– Check power steering fluid level, refer to
⇒ “4.1 Power Steering, Checking Hydraulic Oil Level”,
page 310 .
– Check the steering system for leaks, refer to
⇒ “4.3 Steering System, Checking for Leaks”, page 312 .
– Install noise insulation ⇒ Rep. Gr. 50 .
– On vehicles with air suspension, position vehicle on wheels,
refer to
⇒ “4 Positioning Vehicle on Hoist and Wheels”, page 10 .
8.4 Power Steering Pump, Removing and Installing
Note

Always replace seals.

Do not reuse fluid you have drained.
♦
Only use Hydraulic Oil .
♦
When replacing the power steering pump, replace its seal and o-ring, refer to ⇒ Rep. Gr. 15 .

Only use Grease to lubricate.
