[ i J Tips
• In the event of a defect in the rear spoiler system or in Audi
magnetic ride, it can happen that ASR and ASR/ESP cannot be deac-
t ivat ed, or they are activated automatically in the deactivated state.
• If a malfunction occurs in t he EDS, this is signa led by an indi -
cator light, see=>
page 20.
• Some t racks (e.g. steep ly banked tu rns) may affect ESP
response . •

The rear spo iler deploys and retr acts. Spoile r operat ion can be set
for automatic or manua l operation .
Automati c mode (normal operati o n )
• Automa t ic deployment: At a speed of about 65 mph (100 km/h),
th e rear spoi ler deploys automatically.
• Automatic ret ractio n: W hen speed drop s below abo ut 20 mph
(35 km/h), the rear spoiler retracts automatically.
Manual mode
• Manual depl oyment : Tappi ng briefl y on th e sw it ch => fig . 112
deploys the rear spoil er.
• Manual retr action : At speeds up to about 10 mph (20 km/h),
retract the rear spo iler by pressing and hold ing the switch . At
speeds between 10 m ph (20 km/h) and 65 mph (100 km/h), retr act
th e rear spo ile r by tapping on the switch.
After 15 cyc les (deploy and retract), manua l operation is suspended
for up to 2.5 mi nutes . Above 65 mph (100 km/h), operat ion sw itches
to automatic mode.
& WARNING
Driving at higher speeds without the rear spoiler deployed can
impair handling characteristics, making the vehicle harder to
control.
• If the rear spoiler warning/indicator light
in the instrument
cluster comes on, the rear spoiler may not have deployed. Never
drive at speeds higher than 85 mph (140 km/ h) if the spoiler is not
deployed . Have the spoiler inspected as soon as possible by an
authorized Audi dealer or qualified workshop.
• Improper operation of the rear spoiler can cause crushing inju-
ries. Always make sure that nobody, especially children, is in the
way when the rear spoiler is deployed or retracted .
• Always obey speed limits and other traffi c laws .
(D Note
• Never push the vehicle or apply force to the rear spoi ler - it could
be damaged .
• Operate the rear spoiler manual ly on ly when the engine
compartment lid is close d, otherwise there is a risk of damage .
