Drained coolant should not be reused . Always dispose of used
coo lant whi le observing all environmental regulations .
Radiator fan
The radiator fan switches on automatically by itself.
The electric radiator fan is controlled by the rmoswitches that switch
on and off depending on coolant and engine compartment temper -
atures.
After you switch t he engine off , t he radiotorfan and the auxil iary fan
can continue running for up to 10 minutes - even with the ignition
off. It can even switch on again later by itse lf, if
the temperature of the engine coolant rises due to the heat
bui ld-up from the engine in the engine compartment, or
the engine compartment heats up because the vehic le is parked
in intense sun light.
Brake fluid
Notice
Have the brake fluid change d by an experienced techni -
cian.
Brake fluid abso rbs moisture from the air. If the water content in the
brake flu id is too high, corrosion in the brake syste m may resu lt
after a period of time . The boiling point of the brake fluid wil l also
decrease considerably and decrease braki ng perfor mance.
Therefore, the brake fluid must be changed every tw o years. Always
use new brake flu id which con f orms to Federal Motor Vehic le Stan -
dard "FMVSS 116 DOT
4".
Brake fluid is replaced according to the Audi maintenance service
schedule. Your authorized Audi dealer is equipped with the neces -
sary special tools and rep lacement parts, has the necessary exper -
t ise, and can dispose of the used fluid.

Brake fluid is poi sonou s. It must be stored only in the closed
original container out of the reach of children!
Brake failure can result from old or inappropriate brake fluid .
Observe these precaution s:
- Use only brake fluid that meet s SAE spe cification J 1703 and
conforms to Federal Motor Vehicle Standard 116 . Always check
with your authorized Audi de aler to ma ke sure you are u sing
the correct brake fluid. The correct type of brake fluid is also
indic ated on the brake fluid reservoir.
- The brake fluid must be new. Heavy use of the brakes can
cau se a vapor lock if the brake fluid is left in the system too
long. Thi s can seriously affect the efficiency of the brake s as
well as your safety . This could result in an accident .
