The CRUISE warning/indicator light illuminates when the cruise
control is activated. •
Airbag system
~i (USA models)/ !l (Canada models)
This warning/indica tor light monitors the airbag and the
pretensioner systems.
The ffl (USA models) l!.!r (Canada mode ls) warning light illuminates
for a few seconds each time you switch on the ignition .
If the m (USA mode ls)
l!.!r (Canada models) warning light does not
go out, or if it illuminates whi le you are driving, or if it starts to blink,
then there is a malfunct ion somewhere in the system. If the light
does not illuminate when you switch on the ignition, this also
means there is a malfunct ion.

If you have a malfunction in the airb ag system , cont act your auth o-
rized Audi dealer imm ediately. Otherwi se the airbag or the belt
preten sioner may not wor k properly in an accident . •
Generator 0
This w arning/indic ato r ligh t detects a malfunction in the
generator or in the vehicle's electrical system.
The O warning/indicator light illuminates when you switch on the
ignition and mus t go out after the eng ine has started.
If the O warn ing/ indicator light illuminates w hile you are dr iving,
you shou ld contact your authorized Audi dealer . Since the vehic le

battery is discharging, you shou ld switch off any unnecessary elec-
t rical consumers (for example, the air condit ioner).

If the _t_ warning/ indicator light (malfunction in the engine cooling
system) in the instrument cluster shou ld illuminate=>
page 37, stop
the vehicle and turn off the engine. The coolant pump is not working
- this can cause engine damage! •
Safety belt warning light ~
The warning light is a rem inder to fasten safety belts.
The warning light 4 comes on for a few seconds after the ignition
is switched on as a reminder to fasten your safety belt. Additionally,
an acoustic warn ing (gong) will also sound.

Brake system BRAKE (USA)/ ((D) (Canada)
This warning/indicator ligh t flashes w hen the brake fluid
level is too low or when there is a malfunction in the ABS.
If the warning/indicator light flashes BRAKE/C<D> (with the parking
brake released), stop the ve hicle and obta in qua lified help::::>& .
If the ABS fails, the ABS warning/indicator light
ABS/8 illuminates
along with the brake system warning/ind icato r light
BRAKE/C<I» => & .
(USA models): If the warning light
BRAKE and the warning light 0
illuminate together, immediately contact your authorized Audi
dea ler or qua lifi ed workshop to have all brake pads inspected
=> page 39.
When the light comes on, an aud ible warning signal is also given .
