- Let the engine compartment lid drop down and latch in
place .
Do not try to push it shut; it may fail to engage

A engine compartment lid that is not completely latched could fly
up and block your view while driving.
• When you close the engine compartment lid, check it to make
sure the safety catch has properly engaged. The engine compart-
ment lid should be flush with the surrounding vehicle body parts.
• If you notice while driving that the engine compartment lid is
not secured properly, stop at once and close it. •
Engine compartment lid emergency
release
The emergency release loop is located under the trim to
the left, near the driver's seat.

- Make sure the rear spoiler is retracted=:> page 160.
- Pull the loop forward to release the engine compartment
lid. The engine compartment lid opens slightly.
