Tire repair is intended only for temp orary, short- te rm
use.

Mobility System is not

Your vehicle is equipped wi t h a t ire repair kit , th e Tire Mobility
System (TMS) .
I n t he event of a t ire fa ilur e, the TMS is in t he luggage compartme nt
unde r the floor. It consists of the tire sealant and an electric air
pump.
Using
TMS, t ire damage caused by for eign bodi es up t o about
0 .16 inch (4 mm ) in diameter can be sealed reliab ly.
The f oreig n object must stay in t he t ire.
The tire sealant must not be used:
• for cut s or punctures in the ti re wh ich are large r t han
0.16 inch (4 mm) => fig . 128

• for damage to t he rim @
• if you have been dr iving w it h very low t ire pressures or t ires w it h
no air ®
Using t he
TMS is described in the section => page 22 6, "Preliminary
steps".
Vehicle OP-eration
TMS can be used at temperat ures down to - 4 °F (- 20 °C).
& WARNING
Take the following precautions after repairing the tire :
• Do not drive faster than 50 mph (80 km/ h)!
• Avoid full-throttle acceleration, heavy braking and fast
cornering.
• The vehicle's road behavior can be affe cted.
• Tires sealed with TMS are intended only for temporary, short-
term use. Damaged tire s must be replaced. Drive carefully to the
next professional repair facility.
• After using the tire sealant the tire pressure monitoring
system may no longer work properly . Drive carefully to the next
professional repair facility.
• TMS must NOT be used,
- for cuts or punctures
in the tire which are larger than
0 .16 inch (4 mm)
- for damage to the rim
- if you have been driving with very low tire pressures or tires
with no air
• Seek professional assistance if it is not possible to repair the
tire with the tire sealant .
• The tire sealant must not come into contact with skin, eyes or
clothing .
• If you get any tire sealant in your eyes or come into contact
with it, rinse the affected area thoroughly with clean water . Find
a physician immediately!
• Change any clothing contaminated with tire sealant immedi-
ately.
• Do not inhale the vapor!
• If you have swallowed tire sealant , rinse your mouth thor-
oughly right away and drink plenty of water.
