Cleaning and
protect ion
General information
Regular core preserves vehicle value .
Regular and correct care will contr ibute to
maintaini ng the beauty and value of your
Audi. Furthermore, good care may be a condi -
tion for substant iat ing a warranty claim
should corrosion damage or pa int defects oc-
cur.
Your author ized Audi R8 dea ler has a variety
of
dedicated vehicle-care products. Please
make sure you apply them correctly .

- Cleani ng agents may be poisonous. Keep
t hem out of t he rea ch of childre n.
- Heed a ll cau t io n labels.
- Always read directions o n t he containe r
before using any product . Follow the d i-
rec tio ns caref ully.
- Most chemical cleaners a re concentrat ed
and have to be diluted.
- Use spot removing fluids only in well
ventila t ed areas.
- Do not use gasoline, kerosene, d iesel
fuel , nail pol is h remover or ot her volati le
fluids. They may be toxic, f lammab le or
haz ar do us in ot her ways. Do not was h,
wax or d ry t he vehicle wit h the ignit ion
on or the engine runnin g.
- Do not cle an t he unde rsides of chassis,
fenders, wheel cove rs, etc. wit hout pro-
tectin g your hands and a rms. You may
cut yourse lf on s harp-edged metal parts .
- Moistu re and ice on brakes may impa ir

Care of exterior
Washing your vehicle
The longer insect rema ins, bird d ropp ings,
t ree res in, road and ind ust rial d ust, ta r, soo t
part icles, road salt, an d ot her agg ressive de -
pos its rema in on the vehicle surface, the more
lasting their destructive effect will be . High
temperatures, for example from intense sun-
light, intens ify the corrosive effect.
After t he end of winter road salting, the un -
dersi d e of the vehicle shou ld be tho roughly
washed .
Automatic car washes
Before go ing t hroug h a n autom atic car wash,
you should ta ke t he usu al precau t ions (closing
t he windows). If your vehicle has spec ia l ac-
cessories - e.g . spoilers, radio antenna - it is
best to speak to the operator of the car wash
c:>(D.
Only use car washes where the vehicle re-
mains stationary and the cleaning equi pment
moves aro und the vehicle while washing and
dry ing . It is not possib le to use car washes
where the vehicle is moved fo rward on a con-
veyer

It is preferab le to wash your ve hicle in a
brush less carwash .
Washing with a power washer
When was hing your vehicle wit h a power
washe r, be sure to follow the operat ing in-
structions for the power washer . This applies
part icularly to the
pressure and the spraying
distance.
Mainta in sufficient distance from
soft materia ls suc h as rubber hoses, sound
deade ning mater ial, and the parking aid sen -
sors* that are located in the front or rear
bumper .
Do not use washers with
a rotating jet or a
nozzle spraying
a high pressure jet of wate r in
