The revolutionary 7-speed S tronic gearbox combines sporty driving with the convenience
and smooth, uninterrupted power of an automatic transmission. The technical basis of
S tronic is the double clutch. This consists of two lubricated plates with hydraulically-
regulated contact pressure. It means that S tronic works almost as two separate systems:
one engaging the odd-numbered gears, the other the even-numbered gears, enabling
gearshifts to be made in a fraction of a second, with no disruption to the power flow. So
with S tronic, depending on how the mood takes you, you can either allow gear-changes
to take place automatically or, for a sportier driving style, operate the system using the
gear lever or the optional steering wheel shift-paddles. The choice is yours.
