Overview

The Audio-Technica ATH-M20xBT are wireless headphones designed for a comfortable listening experience, offering both Bluetooth connectivity and a wired option for continuous music playback. These headphones are suitable for various uses, including listening to music, making phone calls, and enjoying media with reduced sound delay.

Function Description

The ATH-M20xBT headphones utilize Bluetooth wireless technology to connect to your devices, allowing you to play music, receive phone calls, and interact with your device's speech recognition functions. The product supports multipairing, enabling it to connect to two Bluetooth devices simultaneously. This multipoint function is particularly convenient for users with multiple smartphones, as it allows you to listen to music from one device and answer calls from another without needing to switch connections manually.

For situations where wireless connectivity is not preferred or available, the headphones offer a wired connection option. This "playthrough function" allows you to use the headphones as portable wired headphones even when the battery is depleted. Simply connect the included cable to the headphone's connector jack and your audio player.

The headphones are equipped with a built-in rechargeable battery. When the battery level is low, a voice guidance message "Low battery" will alert you, and the indicator lamp will flash red, prompting you to charge the device. The product also features an auto power-off function, automatically turning off after 5 minutes if it's not connected to a device or if it remains in the "Waiting to be connected" status for the same duration, helping to conserve battery life.

Usage Features

To begin using the ATH-M20xBT, you first need to pair it with your Bluetooth device. The pairing process involves turning on the headphones, initiating the pairing search on your Bluetooth device, and selecting "ATH-M20xBT" from the list of available devices. A voice guidance message "Bluetooth connected" and a slowly flashing white indicator lamp will confirm successful pairing. The headphones also support Fast Pair for quick and effortless Bluetooth pairing with Android devices, allowing you to check the last known location of your headphones.

Once paired, the headphones can be used for listening to music. You can adjust the volume using the dedicated volume buttons (+/-) on the headphones. The power supply/control button allows you to start or pause music playback with a single press. A double press of this button can activate your device's speech recognition function, such as Siri on compatible iOS devices. The volume buttons also serve to skip tracks, with a short press and hold playing the next track, and a longer press and hold playing the previous track or returning to the start of the current track.

For phone calls, the ATH-M20xBT allows you to answer incoming calls, cancel outgoing calls, and end ongoing calls using the power supply/control button. You can reject incoming calls by pressing and holding this button. During a call, you can switch the audio output between the headphones and your Bluetooth device by pressing and holding the power supply/control button. The call volume can be adjusted using the volume buttons.

The headphones include a "low latency mode" designed to reduce sound delay, which is particularly beneficial when playing games or watching videos, ensuring a more synchronized audio-visual experience. This mode can be toggled ON/OFF by pressing the power supply/control button three times in a row.

Maintenance Features

Regular cleaning is recommended to ensure the longevity of your ATH-M20xBT headphones. It's important to use a dry cloth for cleaning and to avoid alcohol, paint thinners, or other solvents.

For the earpads and headband, wipe them with a dry cloth. If these parts become wet with sweat or water, wipe them dry with a cloth and allow them to air dry in the shade to prevent fading. Any moisture, especially sweat, on operating areas like the buttons should be wiped off immediately to prevent corrosion and potential malfunctions.

Similarly, the included cables should be cleaned with a dry cloth after use to prevent deterioration and hardening over time. The USB plug and the audio cable's plug should also be wiped clean if dirty, as dirt can lead to sound skipping or noise.

When storing the headphones for an extended period, choose a well-ventilated location free from high temperatures and humidity. The earpads are consumable parts and may deteriorate over time with use or storage. If replacement or repair is needed, you should contact your local Audio-Technica dealer.

To maintain the rechargeable battery, it should be charged at least once every 6 months. Neglecting to charge for long periods can reduce the battery's life or prevent it from charging altogether. Always charge the product in a well-ventilated area (10 to 35°C / 50 to 95°F) away from direct sunlight. Charging with a bent, loose, or damaged USB charging cable terminal, or if water or foreign matter is present in the battery jack, should be avoided as it can cause heat generation, smoke, fire, or electric shock. Only the included USB charging cable should be used for charging.
