INTRODUCTION
MODELS
This handbook covers the Volkswagen Trident high-top and the Volkswagen
Trooper with the solid sided elevating roof. The living area is similar in both
models, the only variation being in the roof area. All comply with EN1646 -1:
1998.
VEHICLE TYPE
Auto-Sleeper Trident and Trooper are based on the Volkswagen Transporter
panel van.
CONVERSION TYPES
A panel van conversion with four seats designated for use whilst the vehicle is in
motion.
The Trident and Trooper may be specified as either 2 or 4 berth.
CLIMATIC CONDITIONS
The Trident is designed for use in temperate climates. When fitted with the
Carver P4, it is certified as Grade 2 in accordance with EN 1646: 1998. Grade 2
indicates that the heating system will raise the interior temperatures from 0°C to
20°C within two hours.
The Trooper conforms to Grade 1 in accordance with EN 1646: 1998. Grade 1
indicates that no heating requirements have been met.
HISTORICAL
The Volkswagen Trident and Trooper were introduced in September 1991 and
subsequently updated in December 1994 and again in February 1997.

AUTOMOTIVE MATTERS
For all automotive matters you should refer to the base vehicle instruction
manual.
The Auto-Sleeper conversion does not affect the tyre pressures in any
way since the conversion is built within the design envelope of the base vehicle.
When referring to your base vehicle instruction book for tyre pressures, ensure
that you refer to the appropriate chassis and tyre type.
