Overview

The Avire Digital Audio Unit (DAU) is a compact, slim-design device (Part No: AC-DAB10-120-F-OL-000) designed for two-way communication in lift cars. It integrates a CAN (Controller Area Network) and Low Power Bus (LPBus) system, along with an integrated back-up battery, ensuring reliable operation even during power outages. The DAU connects to a Digital Communication Platform (DCP) to establish a communication point within the lift car.

Function Description:

The DAU serves as a crucial component in lift communication systems, enabling audio communication between the lift car and a remote monitoring station via the DCP. It supports both 2-wire and 4-wire installations. In a 2-wire system, the DAU uses CAN H and CAN L for communication and requires an external power supply (8-28VDC, 250mA). The 4-wire system, however, draws power directly from the DCP, eliminating the need for an external power supply. This flexibility allows for various installation scenarios and power configurations.

The DAU is typically mounted behind the lift car operating panel (COP) and connects to the machine room-mounted DCP via a 2 or 4-wire digital CAN Bus. This setup facilitates stable communication over trailing cables up to 200m. For optimal audio quality and to minimize disruption from ambient electrical noise, the use of shielded twisted pair cable is recommended.

The device features multiple connectors and switches for various functionalities:

  • J1 (LPBus Inputs): Connects to End Of Alarm Button, Maintenance Alarm Button, Cabin Alarm Button, and provides Vout, Alarm 1, Alarm 2, Filter, and End of Alarm signals. These inputs are designed for voltage-free contacts; an intermediate relay is required if any button has voltage.
  • J2 (LPBus): A Low Power Bus that connects to external audio units and other LPBus devices, such as Triphony units and Inductive loops.
  • J6 (Trace): Used for debugging purposes by Avire Technical Support.
  • J9 (CANBus): Connects to the DCP for power supply and CAN H/L communication. Supports both 2-wire (+Vin, CanH, CanL, -Vin) and 4-wire (+Vin (8-28 VDC), CanH, CanL, -Vin (Ground)) configurations.
  • J10 (Pictograms): Provides outputs for external LED indicators (Green and Yellow) and pictograms (10V, 40mA max). The output voltage (12Vdc or 24Vdc, max 20mA each) can be selected via an internal SW5 switch.
  • J11 (External Speaker/Microphone): Allows connection of external microphones and speakers approved by Avire.
  • SW1 (DAU Configurations): Configures the DAU's car number in multi-lift systems (1-4) and activates the CANBus End of Line (EOL) for the CAN connector.
  • SW2 (Battery Config): Enables or disables the internal battery.
  • SW3 (Speaker Config): Configures internal/external speaker usage.
  • SW4 (Microphone Config): Configures internal/external microphone usage.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Power Supply: 8-28VDC, 250mA max (for 2-wire system).
  • CAN Bus Communication: Digital CAN Bus, 2 or 4-wire.
  • Trailing Cable Length: Up to 200m.
  • Battery: NiMH 3.6V/650mAh integrated back-up battery.
  • Pictogram Outputs: 2 outputs, 12Vdc or 24Vdc selectable, max 20mA each.
  • Operating Temperature: 0°C to 45°C.
  • Relative Humidity: 20% to 80% (non-condensing).
  • Dimensions: 140mm (H) x 80mm (W) x 18.95mm (D).
  • Compliance: RoHS (2011/65/EU), 2002/95/CE, 2003/108/CE.

Usage Features:

  • End of Alarm (EOA): Indicates that the emergency lift trapping rescue is complete, allowing the alarm to be turned off or reset.
  • Alarm Filter: Prevents nuisance calls by only activating the Cabin Alarm button when the lift is in a fault condition or the doors are closed. This filter requires lift signals but no DAU programming.
  • Maintenance Alarm Button: Dials a different telephone number for maintenance staff in case of a trapped person (SOS number programmed via DCP, PO30).
  • Cabin Alarm Button: The main alarm button in the COP, requiring a voltage-free contact to trigger an emergency alarm call. Defaulted to Normally Open, but reconfigurable to Normally Closed (PC117).
  • LPBus Connectivity: Allows connection of Triphony and Inductive loop units, expanding communication capabilities.
  • LED Indicators (Green and Yellow): Provide visual feedback on device status and communication:
    • OFF/OFF: End of alarm or Device on standby.
    • ON/OFF: Alarm started, communication established, or end of voice communication.
    • ON/ON: Start voice communication.
    • OFF/ON: Audio module communication established.
    • OFF/Quick Flashing: External audio module communication established.
    • Both flash if DCP lacks voice call access until the issue is resolved.
  • DAU Configuration (SW1): Allows selection of the lift car ID in multi-car systems and enables/disables the CANBus End of Line (EOL) function.
  • Programming: The DAU LPBus is configured via the DCP, which can be accessed remotely via the Avire Hub (avirehub.avire-global.com) or via SMS commands. SMS commands allow reading and modifying parameters (e.g., Pin1234, PcXX?, PcXX value).
  • Multi-language Support: The DAU can use up to six simultaneous languages for floor voice synthesis (Pc28).

Maintenance Features:

  • Battery Replacement: The integrated NiMH 3.6V/650mAh battery should be replaced every 2 years. Replacement involves removing the lid, disconnecting the old battery, and installing a new one from Avire.
  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth. Avoid solvents or abrasive products.
  • Environmental Conditions: Designed for indoor use (0°C to 45°C, 20-80% non-condensing humidity). Avoid sudden temperature/humidity changes.
  • Safety: Do not expose to liquids, excessive humidity, fire, or modify the device. Do not use in hazardous areas.
  • Disposal: The device complies with regulations 2002/95/CE and 2003/108/CE regarding hazardous substances. It should be properly recycled and not disposed of with unsorted household waste.
