5. Enter or change the pager number in the Pager Number field.
6. Enter or edit the text that describes the event in the Text field.
7. Enter or change the Short Message Services (SMS) username, the SMS server’s IP address or
name and the SMS port number in the SMS User Name, SMS Server and SMS Port fields
respectively.
8. Click OK.
9. Click apply changes.
Administration - Notifications - SNMP trap
If an administrator selects Expert - Administration - Notifications, selects SNMP Trap from the
pull-down menu and clicks Add or Edit, the SNMP Notifications Add/Edit dialog box appears.
To configure a trigger for SNMP trap notification for serial ports [Expert]:
1. Select Expert - Administration - Notifications. The Notifications screen appears.
2. If desired, enable Notification Alarm for Data Buffering for an alarm to sound when the trigger
action occurs.
3. Select SNMP Trap from the pull-down menu.
4. Click either Add or Edit. The Notifications Entry dialog box appears.
5. To edit an existing notification select it from the pull-down list.

Field name Definition
Alarm Trigger The trigger expression used to generate an SNMP trap.
[untitled drop-down menu] By default, the pull-down menu is empty. A new trigger is listed in the menu
after it is created.
OID Type Value The value that uniquely identifies an object to the SNMP agent.
Trap Number The trap type as defined in the MIB. The choices are:
• Cold Start
• Warm Start
•Link Down
•Link Up
• Authentication Failure
• EGP Neighbor Loss
• Enterprise Specific
:Community The password used to authenticate the traps.
Server The IP address of the server running the SNMP.
Body The content of the notification.
