To set parameters for all serial ports:
1. Select Wizard - Step 2: Port Profile.
2. Change default parameters, as appropriate.
3. To change whether authentication is required, check the Authentication Required checkbox to
enable or leave it unchecked to disable.
4. Click apply changes.
Step 3: Access
An administrator can select Step 3: Access in Wizard mode to add or delete user accounts and set or
change existing passwords. An admin account is listed by default and cannot be deleted. The
administrator can grant administrator privileges to other users by adding the user accounts to an
Admin group.
NOTE: To define a new group, select Expert - Security - Users and Groups.
The Access screen lists the currently defined users and provides Add, Change Password and Delete
buttons.
To add a user:
1. Select Wizard - Step 3: Access. The Access screen appears.
2. Click Add. The Add User dialog box appears.
3. Enter the username and password in the appropriate fields.
4. Select from the Group menu options.

Parameter Description
Connection Protocol Sets the protocol used to connect to the consoles of devices that are connected to
all serial ports.
Console (SSH) encrypts data and authentication information.
Console (TelnetSSH) allows users to connect using either protocol.
Console (Raw) is for unnegotiated plain socket connections.

Must match the connection parameters on all devices connected to all serial ports.
Authentication Required If selected, authentication uses the local passwd database. To specify other
authentication methods such as RADIUS, TACACS+, or LDAP, select Expert -
Security - Authentication.
