The FOLDJET 2000 is a folding machine designed for various paper formats, offering both general operation and specialized folding programs. It supports a range of DIN and US-standard paper sizes, with options for folding with or without margins.
Function Description
The FOLDJET 2000 automates the process of folding large-format documents. Users can select predefined folding programs for DIN A0, A1, A2, A3, and E, D, C, B size formats, or utilize a freeformat option for custom lengths. The machine is capable of performing both fanfolds and crossfolds. A key feature is its ability to detect the narrow width of a folded paper and automatically switch to crossfold mode, simplifying the process for multi-stage folding.
The control panel features dedicated keys for each DIN/US format (A0/E, A1/D, A2/C, A3/B). A "Wildformat Folding/Stop" key (W/STOP) allows for folding material with lengths ranging from 420 mm (16.5") up to 30 m (100'). This key also serves as an emergency stop, pausing the folding process until re-depressed. Manual forward and reverse keys enable users to advance or reverse paper from the folder without folding, which is useful for removing unfolded paper or clearing jams.
The machine supports folding with or without a border. When folding with a border, the fold width is fixed at 190 mm (7.5"). Borderless folds are performed with the last edge of the folded paper even with the outer edge. Users can also select between fold widths of 190 mm (7.5") and 210 mm (8.25").
Important Technical Specifications

The machine can track the total number of sheets folded via a sheet counter, which can be reset by the user.
Usage Features
Feeding Instructions:
- Preparation: Lay the paper flat on the feed-in table, smoothing out any folded edges. Ensure the first 15-20 cm (few inches) of the leading edge is not curled; if it is, re-roll the paper against the curl to flatten it.
- Positioning: Position the plan face up with the title block in the lower right-hand corner, aligning it with the paper guide diagram.
- Feeding: Gently bring the paper into contact with the inside edge of the paper guide without pushing too firmly (to avoid creasing). With a constant motion, move the paper parallel to the paper guide towards the paper guide roller. Ensure the paper remains square and flat upon entry. The leading edge will be on top after folding.
- Sequential Feeding: Wait for the first sheet to complete folding and exit to the receiving tray before feeding the next sheet. Avoid placing the next sheet under the sensors in the paper guide area, as this can cause errors or incorrect folding.
- Crossfolding: After the initial fanfold, the plan can be re-introduced for crossfolding. The FOLDJET automatically detects the narrow width of the folded paper and enters crossfold mode. Remove the folded plan from the receiving tray, smooth out the fold on the feed-in table, and move the plan against the lower edge of the paper guide with a constant motion to the paper guide roller. The maximum size for crossfolding is A0/E.
User Set-up Menu:
To access the User Set-up menu, press both the Packetfold and Border keys simultaneously.
- Navigation: Use the arrow keys to move through the menu and reset values.
- Sheet Counter: Displays the total number of sheets folded; can be reset to zero.
- Software Version: Shows the current software version.
- Foldwidth Change (190 mm/7.5" & 210 mm/8.25"): Adjust fold width (range 100-330 mm/4.1-13" or 100-350 mm/4.1-13.75"). The W/STOP key saves the desired width to memory.
- Margin Change: Adjust margin (range 10-50 mm/0.4-1.96").
- Paper Format: Select format type (DIN 824, US-Architectural, US-Engineering) using the arrow keys.
- Language: Switch between German and English on the display panel using the W/STOP key.
- Crossfold Width: Set crossfold width (range 100-350 mm/4.1-13.75").
- Crossfold On/Off: Toggle crossfold function using the W/STOP key.
- Crossfold norm/inv.: Change the orientation of the folded material introduced into the paper guide. In normal mode, the title block is face up with the leading edge first. In inverted mode (selected with W/STOP), the folded drawing can be introduced with the border side opposite the paper guide and the title block face down.
- Measurement Units: Switch between inches and mm using the W/STOP key.
- End User Set-up: Exit the menu by pressing the W/STOP key or continue by pressing the up arrow key.
Maintenance Features
Cleaning and Service:
- Feed-in Table: During regular use, the feed-in table may become dull and sticky. Clean it and the paper guide area with a soft cloth and a non-abrasive cleanser. Apply a silicone spray or similar product evenly over the feed-in table surface.
- Paper Guide Area: Keep this area clean and free of paper dust and scraps.
- Paper Rollers: Regular inspection of the paper rollers is crucial for proper operation. Refer to the Operators Manual for further information on safe operation.
