This document serves as a user manual for the Baumatic 60cm Cooktop, model BCT4, providing essential information for its safe and effective operation, installation, and maintenance.

The cooktop is designed for domestic cooking purposes and features multiple cooking zones. It incorporates "Induction" technology, which requires the use of pots and pans suitable for induction cooking to function properly. The cooktop is controlled via a touch control unit, which allows for precise heat setting adjustments and access to various features.

Usage Features:

To begin using the cooktop, the main switch (ON/OFF Key) must be touched for at least one second. Once activated, the hotplate displays will light up, and the cooktop will be ready for use. Users can then select individual hotplates within 10 seconds. If no operation occurs within this timeframe, the hob will automatically enter standby mode.

Selecting a hotplate involves touching its corresponding selection control. After selection, a decimal point will flash on the hotplate's display, indicating it's ready for heat level adjustment. Heat levels can be set between "1" and "9" using the "+" and "-" keys. These keys are equipped with a repeat function, allowing for continuous adjustment by holding them down.

The cooktop also features a "Heat Boost" function, designed to make cooking easier by operating the hotplate at maximum power for a specific period. The duration of the heat boost depends on the selected heat level. When active, the display will alternate between "A" and the selected heat setting value (e.g., "A" and "9"). After the boost time, the display will revert to showing the continuously selected heat setting. The heat boost can be turned off early by reducing the heat setting to "0" or by simultaneously touching the "+" and "-" sensors.

For models equipped with an extended zone function, this can be activated when the basic zone is set to a level greater than "0". The extended zone is activated by simultaneously touching the "+" and "-" sensors, indicated by a dot on the seven-segment display. Deactivation follows the same simultaneous touch action.

A "Child Lock" feature is included to prevent accidental activation of the hotplates, particularly by children. This function is only accessible in standby mode and involves a multi-step process to lock and unlock the touch control unit. When activated, all hotplate displays will show an "L" symbol.

The cooktop has an operating time limitation, meaning if hotplates are left on inadvertently, they will automatically deactivate after a certain period. This period varies depending on the selected heat setting. If a timer was associated with the hotplate, "00" would be displayed for 10 seconds before the timer display switches off. After an automatic switch-off, the hotplate can be re-operated, and the maximum operating time for that heat setting will be reapplied.

Maintenance Features:

Regular cleaning is crucial for extending the product's service life and minimizing potential problems. The cooktop should be cleaned thoroughly after each use to easily remove cooking residues and prevent them from burning on. For general cleaning, warm water with washing liquid and a soft cloth or sponge is recommended, followed by drying with a dry cloth. It's important to ensure all excess liquid is wiped away.

For glass ceramic surfaces, a damp cloth with cold water should be used, avoiding aggressive detergents, cleaning powders/creams, or sharp objects. Dried residues should not be scraped with hook blades or steel wool. Calcium stains (yellow stains) can be removed with a small amount of lime remover, such as vinegar or lemon juice, or suitable commercial products. If the surface is heavily soiled, the cleaning agent can be applied to a sponge and allowed to absorb before cleaning with a damp cloth.

Sugar-based foods, thick cream, and syrup spills must be cleaned promptly without waiting for the surface to cool down, as they can permanently damage the glass ceramic surface. Slight color fading on coatings or other surfaces over time is considered normal and does not affect the product's operation.

The cooktop's touch control unit incorporates a sensor that protects against overheating. If this sensor responds, the relevant burner will be deactivated. A permanent signal will sound if a button is activated non-stop for longer than 10 seconds, and the entire control system will be deactivated.

Safety and Environmental Instructions:

The manual emphasizes several safety precautions. The appliance is not intended for use by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless supervised or instructed by a responsible person. Young children should be supervised to prevent them from playing with the appliance. Installation and repairs must only be performed by authorized service agents.

Electrical safety is paramount. The product must only be connected to a grounded outlet/line with the specified voltage and protection. Never wash the product by spreading or pouring water onto it due to the risk of electric shock. The product must be unplugged during installation, maintenance, cleaning, and repair. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or a qualified person.

Product safety guidelines include not placing flammable materials near the cooktop, keeping ventilation slots clear, and avoiding steam cleaners. Unattended cooking with fat or oil can be dangerous and may lead to fire; in such cases, the appliance should be switched off, and the flame covered, never extinguished with water. If the surface is cracked, the appliance must be switched off immediately to avoid electric shock. Metallic objects should not be placed on hotplates.

The product is designed for domestic use, and commercial use will void the guarantee. It should not be used for purposes other than cooking, such as room heating. Packaging materials are recyclable and should be disposed of according to environmental standards. The product complies with EU WEEE and RoHS directives, meaning it should not be disposed of with normal domestic waste but taken to designated collection centers for electrical and electronic equipment recycling.
