This document is the user manual for a Beko Refrigerator, model GN14790PX. It provides comprehensive information on the appliance's features, operation, maintenance, and safety guidelines.
Function Description
The Beko Refrigerator GN14790PX is a household appliance designed for refrigerating and freezing food. It features a computer intelligent temperature control system and is air-cooled and frost-free, eliminating the need for manual defrosting. The appliance utilizes an environmental-friendly R600a refrigerant and is constructed with materials that are 80% recyclable, making it an eco-conscious choice. It incorporates an efficient, quiet international brand compressor and special case foaming technology, contributing to low noise and energy consumption, suitable for both family and commercial use.
The refrigerator is divided into a refrigerating chamber and a freezing chamber. The refrigerating chamber is primarily for short-term storage of items like milk, eggs, and bottled drinks. It includes a fruit and vegetable box to prevent water loss and recommends packaging cooked foods to prevent frosting and energy increase. The freezing chamber is designed for long-term food storage. It advises cutting fish and meat into small pieces, packaging them separately, and distributing them uniformly in the frozen drawer for quick freezing. Glass or sealed containers with liquid should not be stored in the freezing chamber to avoid bursting.
The appliance includes several operational functions accessible via a display panel:
- Child Lock Function: Automatically locks the keyboard after 30 seconds of inactivity. It can be unlocked by pressing and holding the "unlock 3 sec" key for 3 seconds.
- Manual Temperature Adjustment: Allows users to set the temperature for both the refrigerator and freezer chambers. The refrigerator chamber can be adjusted between 2°C and 8°C, while the freezer chamber can be set between -15°C and -24°C.
- Power Cool Function: Rapidly cools the refrigerator chamber to 2°C for 2 hours. It automatically exits after this period or if other functions are set, or if the refrigerating door is opened for more than 3 minutes.
- Power Freeze Function: Rapidly freezes the freezer chamber to -32°C for 4 hours. It automatically exits after this period or if other functions are set, or if the freezing door is opened for more than 3 minutes.
- Holiday Function: Sets the refrigerating chamber to a "closed state" (displayed as "OF") for energy saving during extended absences. Users are advised to remove all food from the refrigerating chamber before activating this function.
- Power Off Memory: Retains the last working state before a power outage, resuming operation with the previous settings once power is restored.
- Door Alarm: Emits an audible "Di, Di, Di" beep if the refrigerator or freezer door remains open for more than 1 minute. The alarm can be paused by pressing any key and will re-alarm after another minute if the door is still open.
- Over Temperature Warning (Freezer): Activates if the freezer chamber temperature rises above -12°C after power-on, displaying the temperature zone and flashing the digital zone.
- Display Protection Function: Enters a protection mode after 30 seconds of no key operation, locking the keyboard. Any key press exits this mode.

Usage Features
- Installation: Requires a dry, well-ventilated environment, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. A minimum clearance of 30cm above and 10cm on the sides and rear is recommended for proper heat dissipation. The refrigerator should be placed on a flat, firm surface, and the adjusting legs should be used to level it. The foam base must be removed for bottom heat dissipation and fire prevention.
- First Use: After unpacking, cleaning, and leveling, the refrigerator should stand for about 5 hours before being plugged in. It should then cool for 2-3 hours before storing food. In hot weather, it may take up to 24 hours for food to fully freeze.
- Food Storage Guidelines:
- Store raw meat and fish in suitable containers to prevent contact or dripping onto other foods.
- Two-star frozen-food compartments are suitable for pre-frozen food, ice cream, and ice cubes.
- One-, two-, and three-star compartments are not suitable for freezing fresh food.
- Allow hot foods to cool to room temperature before placing them in the appliance.
- Wrap foods properly and wipe containers dry to reduce frost buildup.
- Avoid lining storage bins with aluminum foil, wax paper, or paper toweling, as this interferes with cold air circulation.
- Organize and label food to minimize door openings and search times.
- Keep the refrigerating chamber at 4°C.
- Seal food properly to avoid odor and taste alterations.
- Avoid overcrowding to allow cold air circulation.
- Store frequently used items at the front of shelves.
- Leave a gap between food and inner walls to prevent freezing.
- Thaw frozen food in the fresh food compartment to save energy.
- Unripe tropical fruits should not be stored in the refrigerator for extended periods as it accelerates aging.
- Onions, garlic, ginger, and other root vegetables should be stored in dark, cool room conditions.
- Dispose of spoiled food immediately and clean contaminated areas.
- Divide large portions of food into shallow containers for quicker cooling.
- Do not store unpacked foods near eggs.
- Keep fruits and vegetables separate (e.g., apples with apples, carrots with carrots) as they emit different gases.
- Wrap leafy greens in paper or tea towels after removing them from plastic bags.
- Store fruits and vegetables susceptible to drying in perforated or unsealed plastic bags to maintain moisture while allowing air circulation.
- Ice-making: Fill the ice-making box with 4/5 water, place it in the freezing chamber, and once frozen, twist the box slightly to separate the ice. Use a dry cloth to handle the box to avoid frostbite.
Maintenance Features
- Regular Maintenance: Recommended to maintain the refrigerator regularly.
- Cleaning: Unplug the power plug before cleaning to prevent electric shock. Use a wet cloth and neutral detergent (cleanser essence) to wipe off oil and dirt, then thoroughly wipe off the detergent. Avoid alkaline detergents, soap powder, gasoline, alcohol, or talcum powder, as they can damage coats or plastics. Regularly clean the refrigerator body and the floor around it to keep it clean.
- Post-Maintenance Inspection: After cleaning, check for:
- Damage to the power line and plug.
- Dust on the power plug.
- Abnormal heat on the plug.
- Loose socket.
- Whether the plug is fully inserted.
- Power Plug Safety: If the power line and plug are damaged or dusty, electric shock or fire may occur. Wait at least 5 minutes after unplugging before re-plugging.
- Safety Precaution: Do not place hands under the refrigerator to avoid injury from sharp parts.
- Light Replacement: Any replacement or maintenance of the LED lamps must be performed by the manufacturer, its service agent, or a similarly qualified person.
Non-Failure Phenomena (Normal Operation)
The manual also clarifies several phenomena that are normal and do not indicate a fault:
- Warm or Hot Sides/Spacing: Refrigerator pipes (condenser, anti-fog pipes) on the sides and front dissipate heat and prevent condensation.
- Tight Door: Reopening the door immediately after closing can be difficult due to pressure difference caused by hot air contracting inside. It will open easily after a short while.
- Water Ripple Sound: Occurs when the compressor starts or stops, due to refrigerant movement, and from water produced during defrosting.
- "Click" or "Tick" Sound: Caused by the shrinkage and swelling of the case as it cools or when the door is opened.
- Hum Sound: Normal operating sound of the compressor. If the refrigerator is not level, this sound may be louder.
- Condensation/Frosting on Freezer Door/Food Surface: Can occur if ambient temperature or humidity is high, the door is opened for too long, or foods with too much water are not sealed.
- Condensation on Built-in Light Surface: Heat from the light and prolonged door opening can cause temperature differences, leading to condensation on the light case.
- Condensation/Water Mist on Body: High ambient humidity can cause moisture in the air to gather on the case.
