Question and Answer IconNeed help?

Do you have a question about the Beninca TO.GO2VA and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The BENINCA TO.GO is a series of radio remote controls designed for automatic gates and similar access control systems. This document describes the TO.GO2VA and TO.GO4VA models, which are 2-channel and 4-channel versions respectively, operating at 433.92 MHz with rolling code technology.

Function Description

The TO.GO remote controls utilize rolling code technology, which enhances security by changing the transmission code with each use. This prevents unauthorized cloning of the remote. The device is designed to be user-friendly with a simple button interface.

Programming: The programming process for these remotes involves a "hidden key" button, which is used to put the receiver into programming mode. The steps are as follows:

  1. Press the hidden key button on the new remote control.
  2. Press the button on the new remote control that you wish to program.
  3. Press the hidden key button on an already programmed remote control.
  4. Press the button on the already programmed remote control that corresponds to the button being programmed on the new remote.
  5. The receiver will confirm successful programming, typically with an LED indicator.

Alternatively, the programming can be done directly on the receiver unit by pressing its programming button and then pressing the desired button on the new remote control.

Advanced Programming Features (TO.GO2VA and TO.GO4VA): These models offer advanced programming options, including:

  • Encoding Type Selection: The user can select the encoding type, which might include different rolling code algorithms or fixed code options for compatibility with older systems.
  • Impulse Duration: The duration of the impulse transmitted by the remote can be adjusted. For example, a 1-second impulse or a 2-second impulse might be selectable.
  • "Hidden Key" Function: The hidden key button serves multiple purposes, including initiating programming and potentially activating specific functions on the receiver.
  • Sequential Programming: The manual describes a sequential programming method where multiple remotes can be programmed in a series. For example, for the TO.GO2VA, pressing the hidden key, then button 1, then button 2, then the hidden key again, followed by a 1-second pause, programs both buttons. For the TO.GO4VA, a similar sequence involving all four buttons and a 2-second pause is described.
  • "Pulse Catcher" Function: This feature is mentioned in relation to programming and might refer to a method of capturing the transmitted code from an existing remote for cloning or learning purposes, though the primary method described is rolling code.

Important Technical Specifications

TO.GO2VA / TO.GO4VA:

  • Frequency: 433.92 MHz
  • Channels: 2 (TO.GO2VA) or 4 (TO.GO4VA)
  • Encoding: Rolling Code
  • Battery Type: 12V A23 Alkaline Battery
  • Operating Temperature: -20°C to +50°C
  • Dimensions: 70 x 40 x 14 mm
  • Protection Rating: IP 44 (for TO.GO2VA and TO.GO4VA)
  • Operating Range: Open space with no interferences. The range is not explicitly stated in meters but is implied to be standard for gate remotes.

Battery Life: The battery life is estimated based on typical usage. For a 12V A23 battery, the manual indicates that with 2 daily activations, the battery should last approximately 2 years.

Usage Features

User Interface: The remote controls feature clearly labeled buttons (1, 2, 3, 4) for easy operation. The hidden key button is recessed or less prominent to prevent accidental activation.

LED Indicator: An LED indicator is present on the remote control. This LED illuminates during transmission, indicating that the remote is sending a signal. It can also be used to confirm programming steps or indicate low battery status.

Compatibility: The TO.GO series is designed to be compatible with BENINCA control units that support rolling code technology at 433.92 MHz. The manual references specific BENINCA control units like the ADVANTOUCH PTX-MEM.

Safety and Security: The rolling code technology is a key security feature, making it difficult for unauthorized individuals to copy the remote's signal. The manual emphasizes that the product complies with relevant European directives (1999/5/CEE for radio equipment and telecommunications terminal equipment, and others) and standards (ETSI EN 301 489-1 V1.4.1:2002, ETSI EN 301 489-3 V1.9.2:2011, ETSI EN 300 220-1 V2.4.1:2012:05, ETSI EN 300 220-2 V2.4.1:2012:05, EN 622479:2010, EN 60950-1:2006 + A11:2009 + A1:2010 + A12:2012). These certifications ensure the device meets essential safety and performance requirements.

Maintenance Features

Battery Replacement: The manual provides instructions for replacing the battery. This is a user-serviceable task. When the battery is low, the LED indicator on the remote may flash or behave erratically, signaling the need for replacement. The battery compartment is typically accessible by opening the remote's casing, often with a small screwdriver.

Cleaning: The remote control should be kept clean and dry. The manual does not specify particular cleaning agents but implies general care. Avoid exposing the remote to excessive moisture or extreme temperatures.

Disposal: The manual includes a "Waste Disposal" section, indicating that the product should not be disposed of with general household waste. It must be taken to a designated collection point for the recycling of electrical and electronic equipment. This is marked by the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol. This ensures environmentally responsible disposal and prevents potential harm from hazardous substances contained within the device.

Troubleshooting: The manual implicitly offers troubleshooting guidance through its detailed programming instructions. If the remote is not working, users should first check the battery and then re-attempt the programming process, ensuring all steps are followed correctly. The "hidden key" function is crucial for initiating programming and should be used as described.

Manufacturer Support: The manual provides contact information for BENINCA S.p.A., including their address, phone number, fax number, and email address for sales and technical support. This ensures that users can obtain assistance if they encounter issues that cannot be resolved through the manual's instructions.
