Do you have a question about the BERARDINUCCI TORNADO and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The Berardinucci Tornado is a specialized agricultural machine designed for mechanized harvesting, particularly of fruits from trees. This manual provides comprehensive instructions for its operation, maintenance, and safety.

Function Description

The Tornado is a trailed implement that attaches to a tractor via a 3-point hitch and a cardan joint. Its primary function is to harvest fruits by gripping and vibrating the tree trunk or branches, causing the fruits to fall into a collection system. The machine features a vibrating head that can be controlled to adjust the intensity and direction of vibration, allowing for efficient and gentle harvesting suitable for various tree types and fruit ripeness. The collected fruits are then guided into a fruit-collecting container.

Important Technical Specifications

The Tornado is equipped with a hydraulic system that powers its various movements and the vibrating head. The hydraulic oil used is Shell Tellus Oil 46. The machine's design includes a telescopic arm and a vibrating head, both of which are controlled via a remote control (radiocomando). The cardan joint connection to the tractor requires a standard 540 rpm power take-off (PTO).

Key components include:

  • Vibrating Head (Testata Vibrante): Available in P70-P75-P80 and P100-P110 models, designed for different harvesting needs.
  • Telescopic Arm (Braccio Telescopico): Extends and retracts to position the vibrating head.
  • Hydraulic System: Includes an oil tank, oil filter, and various hydraulic lines and valves.
  • Wheels: Extractable wheels for stability during operation.
  • Fruit-Collecting Container (Contenitore Raccolta Frutti): Gathers harvested fruits.

The machine's serial number and other identification details are located on a metal plate on the front heading of the chassis.

Usage Features

The Tornado is operated via a remote control (joystick) that allows for precise manipulation of the machine's functions.

  • Arm Control: The joystick can extend/retract the telescopic arm and raise/lower it.
  • Vibrating Head Control: The vibrating head can be opened/closed, and its vibration intensity can be adjusted (1-2-3 settings). The head can also be tilted left or right.
  • Safety Precautions:
    • Always ensure at least two operators are present during attachment and operation.
    • Maintain a safe distance of 10 meters from the machine during operation.
    • Do not spoil trees, force trunks, tread on fruits, or break branches during harvesting.
    • Avoid contact between the trunk and the gummed limit switch plate inside the gripper.
    • When approaching a trunk, gently activate the arm extension to avoid violent impacts.
    • For irregular trunks, grip the narrowest part. For young trees, grip the lowest part; for old trees, avoid knotty areas.
    • Register gripper pressure according to the tree type.
    • Only use cardan joints with anti-wrapping protection and CE mark.
    • Ensure the radiocontrol is off and respect polarity when connecting electrical cables.
    • Before starting, check the functionality of all systems, the integrity of the Tornado, and hydraulic pipes.
    • Warm up the engine for 10 minutes before any movement.
    • Drive carefully, considering ground conditions and respecting road rules on public roads.
    • Avoid dangerous behavior towards others or the environment.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and efficient operation of the Tornado. The manual outlines a programmed maintenance schedule:

Daily Maintenance (Giornaliera):

  • Check the tightening of screws.
  • Lubricate the vibrating head.
  • Lubricate the telescopic arm.
  • Check hydraulic oil levels.
  • Check all components subject to strong wear (silentblocks, catches, and plugs).

Every 100 Hours (100 Ore):

  • No specific tasks listed in the provided excerpt.

Every 200 Hours (Ogni 200 Ore):

  • Oil filter change. The oil filter is located inside the hydraulic tank and must be replaced every 200 hours.

Every 500 Hours (Ogni 500 Ore):

  • Check hydraulic oil level and replace if necessary.
  • Check the tightening of screws.

Lubrication Spots (Punti d'ingrassaggio): The manual identifies specific lubrication points using grease EP2, especially for evolvent bearings (cuscinetti evolventi) and ball screws (viti a ricircolo di sfere). For these specific components, a special lubricant for high temperatures is recommended (PAR. 21: PUNTI 14 - 15).
