L18P Lubricator
Manual, One Shot
Operation
The L18P Lubricator is a spring return piston pump. Pushing the operating handle down raises a
piston and compresses a spring. Releasing the handle discharges oil into the system. Oil viscosity
does not affect discharge volume, but may affect system pressure.
Technical Data
Reservoir Capacity 1 litre
Lubricator Inlet Filter 40 micron particle separation
Discharge Pressure 65 psi maximum
Factory Discharge Setting 18cc
Discharge Volume Per Stroke 6 to 18cc infinitely adjustable
Viscosity Range 150 to 8,000 SSU at operating temperature
Notes Regarding Use
1. Lubricator inlet filter should be inspected periodically and cleaned/replaced as required.
2. Discharge pressure will decrease as discharge volume decreases and the number of meter
units in the system increases.
System & Limitations
Use Type F meter units. Do not exceed 70 meter units. To calculate system flow (ø), refer to Bijur
Engineering Manual. Do not exceed figures shown below.
Maximum Permissible Total System Flow (o)

Do you have a question about the Bijur Delimon L18P and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The L18P Lubricator is a manual, one-shot lubrication device designed for controlled oil discharge into a system. Its primary function is to provide a precise amount of lubricant with each operation, making it suitable for applications requiring periodic, metered lubrication.

Function Description

The L18P Lubricator operates as a spring-return piston pump. When the operating handle is pushed down, it raises a piston and compresses an internal spring. Upon releasing the handle, the compressed spring forces the piston to discharge a measured volume of oil into the lubrication system. This design ensures that the discharge volume is independent of the oil's viscosity, although viscosity may influence the system pressure. The device is intended for use with Type F meter units and has a limitation of not exceeding 70 meter units in a system. The total system flow should also not exceed the figures specified in the manual's "Maximum Permissible Total System Flow (Ø)" table, which varies based on the "CC Per Shot" and "Stroke Setting."

Important Technical Specifications

  • Reservoir Capacity: 1 litre, providing ample storage for lubricant.
  • Lubricator Inlet Filter: Equipped with a 40-micron particle separation filter to ensure clean oil delivery and protect the system from contaminants.
  • Discharge Pressure: Maximum of 65 psi. It's important to note that discharge pressure decreases as the discharge volume is reduced and as the number of meter units in the system increases.
  • Factory Discharge Setting: Pre-set to 18cc.
  • Discharge Volume Per Stroke: Infinitely adjustable from 6 to 18cc, allowing for precise control over the amount of lubricant dispensed per operation.
  • Viscosity Range: Compatible with oils ranging from 150 to 8,000 SSU (Saybolt Seconds Universal) at operating temperature, offering broad applicability across various lubricant types.
  • Mounting: Features two 17/64 inch diameter mounting holes for 1/4 inch diameter mounting bolts, facilitating secure installation.
  • Female Outlet: A 5/16-24 thread for 5/32 O.D. tubing connection, requiring compression bushing #B1371 and compression sleeve #B1061 for proper connection.
  • Dimensions (Approximate):
    • Overall width: 7.61 inches
    • Overall height: 8.93 inches
    • Reservoir base dimensions: 6.53 inches (width) x 5.47 inches (depth)
    • Stroke setting mechanism height: 1.00 inch
    • Adjusting screw height: 6.56 inches

Usage Features

  • One-Shot Operation: Provides a single, metered shot of lubricant with each manual activation, ideal for applications requiring intermittent lubrication.
  • Adjustable Discharge Volume: The ability to infinitely adjust the discharge volume from 6 to 18cc allows users to fine-tune lubrication delivery to specific bearing requirements, optimizing lubricant consumption and preventing over-lubrication.
  • System Flow Limitations: Users must adhere to the specified maximum permissible total system flow (Ø) and the limit of 70 meter units to ensure the system operates effectively and within its design parameters. The manual provides a table to guide users in calculating appropriate flow rates based on CC per shot and stroke setting.
  • Startup Procedure: Simple startup involves filling the reservoir and operating the lubricator until oil flows freely at all bearings, confirming proper system priming.
  • Ordering Information: The manual provides clear instructions for ordering the lubricator itself (L18P-R for right-hand handle, L18P-L for left-hand handle) and specific service parts, including the reservoir assembly group, filter cap, and filter group, using part numbers and descriptions.

Maintenance Features

  • Filter Maintenance: The 40-micron inlet filter should be inspected periodically and cleaned or replaced as required to maintain oil purity and prevent system contamination.
  • Filter Replacement Schedule: A filter at the pump inlet protects the lubricating system and should be inspected every six months. If the filter is dirty, it should be removed by prying out the snap ring with a screwdriver and replacing the filter disc and screens. For a full replacement, the order includes a filter disc support (coarse screen), filter disc screen (fine screen), filter disc, filter clamp ring, and filter snap ring.
  • Service Parts Availability: The manual details various service parts by item number, part number, and description, facilitating easy identification and ordering of components for maintenance and repair. This includes the reservoir assembly group (20324-HJT), filter cap (B9Z30C), and filter group (S109).
  • Repair Guidelines: For major repairs requiring parts not identified in the drawing, users are instructed to return the lubricator to the factory for rebuilding and adjustment. This ensures that complex repairs are handled by qualified personnel, maintaining the device's integrity and performance.
