Overview

This document describes the Bittel series SIP IP phones, which offer an affordable IP phone system with ease of use, superior voice quality, economic physical design, advanced services, and special hotel features.

Function Description

The Bittel SIP IP phone transmits voice over a network based on the IP protocol, supporting LAN (Local Area Network), MAN (Metropolitan Area Network), and the Internet. It supports various call services including Hotline, Call Transfer, Call Waiting, Three-Way Call, Black List, White List, and Limit List. The phone also features automatic configuration, system logging, and firmware upgrades.

Usage Features

Installation and Connection:

  • Handset Cord: Insert one end into the handset jack and the other into the jack on the back of the phone.
  • Network Connection: Insert the Ethernet cable into the LAN Jack and the other end into a HUB or switch. The default network mode is DHCP.
  • Power On:
    • Adaptor Mode: Insert the adaptor's output jack into the power jack of the POE cable line.
    • POE Mode: Insert one end of the Ethernet cable into the WAN port of the phone and the other end into the POE port of the PBX.
  • Phone Assembly (67IP/68IP/69IP): Keep the back surface and base locked together, then push the base into the correct position.
  • Signal Wire Connection (model 68 only): Insert the signal ribbon cable from the bottom of the upper case into the "AUDIO CONNECT" jack, ensuring a firm connection.
  • Magnetic Switch: Install away from strong magnetic fields.
  • Environment: Install in a dry environment, avoid dampness. The telephone should be fire-proof, shock-proof, and cleaned with a soft cloth, avoiding chemical solvents.

MMI Filter:

  • Allows specifying IP addresses for access to the phone's MMI for configuration and management.
  • Users can add or delete IP address segments.
  • Enable or disable the MMI Filter.

Firewall Configuration:

  • Set up a firewall to prevent unauthorized Internet users from accessing private networks (input rule) or unauthorized private network devices from accessing the Internet (output rule).
  • Supports two types of rules: input access rule and output access rule, each supporting up to 10 items.
  • Rules can be defined by protocol type (TCP, UDP, ICMP, IP), source address, and destination address.

NAT Configuration:

  • NAT (Network Address Translation) is responsible for IP address translation and managing network ports for public use.
  • Supports IPSec ALG, FTP ALG, and PPTP ALG for encryption and connection layer services.
  • Allows setting NAT TCP and UDP mapping tables.
  • DMZ configuration for outside and inside WAN/LAN IP addresses.

VPN Configuration:

  • Provides a secure connection mode for remote access to the enterprise's internal network from a public network via a special tunnel (UDP Tunnel or L2TP).
  • Allows setting VPN server address, port, username, and password.

Placing Phone Calls:

  • Off-hook/On-hook/Speakerphone Mode: Pick up the handset or press the SPEAKER key to switch between modes.
  • Dial Directly: Pick up the handset or press SPEAKER, then dial the number and press #.
  • Redial: Pick up the handset or press SPEAKER, then press REDIAL. In on-hook mode, use VOL+/- to select the number, then pick up handset or press SPKR.
  • Conference: During a call, press CONF and dial the second number. Press CONF again for a three-way conference.
  • Speed Dial: In off-hook or speakerphone mode, press a speed dial key (M1-M10).
  • Answering Calls: Pick up the handset or press SPEAKER. For a new incoming call on another line, press the corresponding line key.
  • Call Hold: During a call, press HOLD to put the other party on hold.
  • Call Waiting: If enabled, press the corresponding line key to answer a new incoming call and hold the current one.
  • Forward: Incoming calls can be forwarded to a designated number (Always, Busy, No Answer).
  • Mute: Press MUTE to mute local voice.

Audio Section:

  • Play Audio: Press AUDIO ON/OFF to enter audio play mode, then RADIO/LINE IN for radio or music.
  • iPod/MP3 Playback: Connect iPod/MP3 via LINE IN port.
  • FM Radio: Press RADIO/LINE IN, select FM-RADIO, then TUNING+/- to find channels.
  • Automatic Detection: Phone pauses audio playback during incoming calls and resumes after the call.

Time Setting:

  • Adjust Time: In AUDIO OFF mode, press VOLUME- for 1 second to set hour (TUNING+/- to adjust), then VOLUME- again for minute (TUNING+/- to adjust). Press VOLUME- to finish.
  • 12/24-Hour Format: Press VOLUME+ to select.
  • Alarm Setup: Press ALARM SET, set hour (VOLUME+/- to adjust), then ALARM SET again for minute (VOLUME+/- to adjust). Press ALARM SET to finish.
  • Alarm Snooze: Press any key (except ALARM) to stop ringing for 10 minutes.
  • Alarm Volume: In AUDIO OFF mode, press ALARM VOLUME to adjust (0-20, default 10).
  • LCD Brightness: In alarm ringing mode, press SNOOZE to adjust (Mid, Hi, Close).
  • Charge Port: Two USB ports for charging devices (iPod, iPhone, mobile phones). LINE IN audio input port for iPod/MP3.
  • Homing System: Press ALARM for 2 seconds to enter housekeeping mode (resets all alarm records from previous guests).
  • Clock Battery: Replace 3V, 50mAh battery every two years.
  • Remote Control Timing Cloner: Use to set time and DST area code.

Maintenance Features

Automatic Configuration:

  • Displays current configuration version.
  • Set FTP server address (IP or domain), username, password, and configuration file name for automatic updates.
  • Choose from FTP, TFTP, HTTP protocols.
  • Set update interval (in hours) and update mode (Disable, Update after reboot, Update at time interval).

System Log:

  • Provides a client/server system for recording system messages, classified by priority (Level 0: emergency to Level 7: debug).
  • Allows setting syslog server IP, port, and log levels for MGR, SIP, IAX2.

Configuration Management:

  • Save Configuration: Save current settings.
  • Backup Config: Download configuration file (.txt) to PC.
  • Clear Configuration: Reset all configurations to factory defaults (admin) or clear all except account number and current version settings (guest).

Upgrade Configuration:

  • Upload or download configuration files and firmware updates via FTP/TFTP server.
  • Supports application updates, config file export/import.

Account Configuration:

  • Add or delete user accounts and change their authority (Root or General).
  • Set keyboard password for accessing phone settings.

Reboot:

  • Reboot the phone to apply modified configurations. Ensure all changes are saved before rebooting.

Troubleshooting:

  • No Dialing Tone: Check telephone network, handset cord, and straight line cord connections.
  • No Ringing/Continual Ring: Check telephone line and quantity of parallel phones.
  • Noise During Talk: Check telephone line, cables, and connections.
  • No Acoustics Sound: Check external power supply, 10pins ribbon cable, and AUDIO CONNECTION.
  • No Radio Signal/Noisy Radio: Adjust radio antenna direction, check local TV channel frequency.
  • Cannot Receive Calls: Check if phone is in "DOD" (Do Not Disturb) status.
  • General Problems: Contact local representative; do not open the phone body.

Restore Factory Settings:

  • Press "#" twice when powered on to enter safety mode. Then press "*#168" to restore factory settings.

Warranty:

  • 12-month warranty against manufacturing defects from the date of purchase.
  • Warranty is void for abnormal use, unauthorized repair/modification, use in humid/dirty/dusty environments, or damage during transport/storage.
