6.4.1.4 Subsequent entry of the ocial number plate
In order for the vehicle to be allowed to
participate in trac on public roads, the
ocial registration plate must be entered
in the calibration data. If this is not done
before activation or during the initial cal-
ibration, the vehicle registration number,
the addendum may be made in two ways:
y By the vehicle owner using his company
card. The generates the calibration
purpose (5).
y Or through a workshop. This generates
the calibration reason (4) “verication”.
Attention: According to the law, a
complete calibration must be per-
formed including a new seal for
the encoder. An addendum of the
authorising Member State and the
vehicle registration number alone is not
permitted by law.

6.4.1.5 Other calibration purposes
Value assignments for calibration purposes can be found in appendix: Purposes of calibration.
The calibration reasons (1) “Activation”, (2) “Initial installation” and (5) “Entry of the ocial number plate by a company” have
been described above.
A data set with the calibration reason (4) “Regular verication” is written with each recalibration. (If more than two calibrations
are performed on a calendar day, only the rst and last ones remain.
The record with the calibration reason (128) “Plombenwechsel” indicates when the last time a seal number was changed.
The calibration purpose (6) is written when a time adjustment of more than 20 minutes is made and no recalibration is carried
out thereafter. However, the law requires a complete recalibration if there is a time deviation of more than 20 minutes.
The calibration reason (3) is written when the tachograph is installed in another vehicle (new VIN).
