and the Waste Batteries and Accumulators Regulations 2009 (2009/890), measuring
tools that are no longer usable must be collected separately and disposed of in an environ-
mentally friendly manner.

Opening the housing shell can destroy the measuring tool.
Before you can remove the battery from the measuing tool, you will need to use the meas-
uring tool until the battery is completely discharged. Unscrew the screws on the housing
and remove the housing shell in order to remove the battery. To prevent a short circuit,
disconnect the connectors on the battery one at a time and then isolate the poles. Even
when fully discharged, the battery still contains a residual capacity, which can be released
in case of a short circuit.
